about the role:
support hse manager for trion as the key point of contact for occupational health & hygiene aspects. The role will provide direction and expert advice to operational and other stakeholders on health and safety risks and controls. Interface with non-hse disciplines across the company specific to the international operations region and also corporate hse disciplines and relevant external organisations.
duties & responsibilities:
* support international business to anticipate, recognize, evaluate and effectively control health hazards. ·
* identify appropriate facilities for medical response plans and treatment of occupational injuries/illness in conjunction regional medical directors. ·
* consult with the company medical director where emergency transport may be required and, in all cases, where there is doubt regarding diagnosis or management or where medical treatment (beyond first aid) is required (including fitness to work).
* establish, monitor and report out on health performance indicators to deliver defined kpis. · perform as international ops super user for cority.
* facilitate timely identification and payment of ohh related vendors and service contractors.
* assess, treat and case manage occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses in accordance with io injury/illness case management procedure.
* follow approved occupational health & hygiene procedures
* liaise with third party contractors as needed to ensure appropriate medical care of injuried parties and adherence to woodside policy & reorting where applicable.
* follow site medical response protocols
* lead and/or conduct testing or screening programs (for example, audiometric testing, pulmonary function testing, ergonomic assessments, alcohol and drug testing, blood pressure screening)
* oversee performance of annualy physical and travel health assessments (including vaccinations, health education, etc.).
* provide health counseling and initiate referral services to other health care professionals (for example, physicians, psychologists, physiotherapists)
* work with others in the organization to assess, plan, implement and evaluate employee wellness programs (for example, immunization programs, health training, fitness programs).
* promote compliance with legislation and regulations related to health and safety and workers' compensation.
* notify key stakeholders of all occupational or suspected occupational incidents and those requiring transport by ambulance or other emergency vehicle.
* facilitate injury/illness case management by coordinating health care and early intervention to promote the safe and timely return to work of ill or injured employees.
* liaise with the hospital / treating physician and other health care providers (e.g. physiotherapist, counselor) to monitor the progress of treatment.
* establish and maintain confidential employee health records.
* support health safety and wellness training programs
* maintain qualification, training and skills as required by company, legislation and/or industry guidelines.
* other duties as needed.
* experience in occupational health, hygiene, injury management, medical assessment and knowledge of risk assessment techniques.
* ability to effectively communicate and demonstrate interpersonal skills through out all levels of the organization.
* understanding of mexican & osha recordkeeping and classification of injury/illness cases
* drug and alcohol testing certification
* occupational hearing conservationist (caohc)
* ergonomics assessor training
* ability to use electronic data management programs
* problem solving and critical thinking skills
* effective verbal and written communication skills
* organizational skills
* good judgment and the ability to make decisions quickly, especially in stressful situations
* patience, understanding and a caring attitude
* ability to work co-operatively with others
* current cpr/aed certification
* proficient with microsoft office suite (outlook, powerpoint, excel, etc.)
skills & experience:
* occupational medicine experience or background including case management
* valid registered nurse licensure
* strong commitment to company values
* ability to anticipate, recognize, evaluate, and control health related hazards in the workplace
* advanced certification - cohn, ccm certification (preferred not required)
* knowledge of ohh related software (cority, chemalert, etc)
* 5 to 10 years of relevant experience
* willingness and ability to travel as needed
* background in the oil and gas industry
