the senior manager, materials and planning will lead the materials and planning strategy for the business unit. This role blends the tactical day-to-day management of the materials and planning team.
this position reports directly to the vice president, operations. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in revenue planning, inventory management, customer on-time performance, cost reduction, and ppv targets.
this position is based in reynosa, mexico.
key responsibilities:
1. direct supervision, mentoring, and development of the team in reynosa, mexico, and creation of robust succession plans within the team. The team is responsible for materials planning and inventory management and will provide support to the operations leadership with warehousing and shipping activities.
2. forecasts and plans according to sales and production schedules, while simultaneously developing and executing strategies to lower inventory.
3. collaborate with operations, engineering, finance, corporate supply chain leadership, and similar functions to drive process improvement and efficiency projects.
4. develop appropriate key performance indicators (kpis) and set smart goals, holding the team accountable for the success of those kpis.
5. lead robust siop activities across the business unit.
6. develop standardized supply chain, planning, master scheduling, and erp management procedures and practices.
7. develop production and capacity planning processes, daily management, individual daily standard work, and metrics.
8. collaborate with operations leadership to develop and execute production plans, enable visibility of planned backlog, and achievement of finance targets.
9. leverage erp and business analytics tools to develop clear visual indicators of issues, open actions, and business performance.
requirements and considerations:
1. bachelor's degree required, mba a plus.
2. c.p.m., c.p.i.m, or similar certification preferred.
3. strong understanding and application of lean and continuous improvement tools (siop, kanban material pull management, pfep analysis, etc.).
4. 7+ years leading a supply chain organization required, including planning, scheduling, and purchasing in a manufacturing environment.
5. 5+ years driving kaizen and siop events strongly preferred.
6. prior experience managing direct reports is required.
7. experience in a manufacturing environment required, lean manufacturing, i.e., internal & supplier kanban implementation, experience a plus.
8. experience working with oracle or similar erp system required.
9. experience in the aerospace & defense industry preferred.
10. due to contracts with the united states government, the candidate must be a us citizen or greencard holder.
