As general manager, ai, you will play a pivotal role in driving toptal’s growth by serving as the end-to-end owner of a new, high‑impact business line. Leveraging your product and entrepreneurial experience, you will build the business from the ground up, starting with market positioning and strategy, through establishing product‑market fit, and then toward profitability and scalable business operations.responsibilities“the following information is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. It is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties, responsibilities, or required skills.”ensure the success of the business and serve as the single accountable owner for its p&l.work closely with executive and senior leadership to ensure the business aligns with broader growth goals and represents the toptal brand in every aspect.analyze market and industry opportunities, identify high‑potential prospects, and build a strategy.build and test new offerings with clients, using initial feedback to quickly achieve product‑market fit.work front‑line with clients as a trusted business partner while collaborating internally with marketing, legal, finance, and sales teams.establish robust analytics and feedback loops to continuously iterate on strategy and ensure constant refinement and improvement.lead a highly visible position demanding exceptional communication skills, an entrepreneurial spirit, and unwavering commitment to driving growth.in the first week, expect to:onboard and integrate into toptal.learn toptal’s business model, value proposition, and story.shadow critical teams throughout the organization to understand core operations and capabilities.in the first month, expect to:understand our go‑to‑market model across smb and enterprise and articulate toptal’s capabilities and differentiators.conduct market and industry research, identify opportunities, and form your hypothesis for business positioning.partner closely with marketing to research and validate the market opportunity.build initial gtm strategy and iterate through feedback from direct client calls and meetings.in the first three months, expect to:partner with senior leadership, new businesses, marketing, and talent operations to develop a robust launch strategy.start executing your gtm strategy leveraging internal cross‑functional support from legal, finance, and others.in the first six months, expect to:assess the ai division’s progress against key milestones, refine ai roadmaps, and ensure alignment with business objectives.identify opportunities for scaling ai initiatives and improving efficiency.ensure successful integration and scaling of ai solutions across the client organization, improving operational efficiency, product capabilities, and customer outcomes.in the first year, expect to:broaden toptal’s reach into key industry subsectors through ai tools and products.scale the infrastructure required for execution, including the optimization of processes and systems.achieve product‑market fit and realize your core business, achieving consecutive quarter growth.qualifications and job requirementsbachelor’s degree required; master’s degree in engineering, business, or related field preferred.10+ years of experience driving and managing a business with strong understanding of operations and management principles.3+ years managing a business with p&l ownership.experience working in a professional services organization and driving business growth.demonstrated success in building and launching a new business or product offering from scratch.experience at a technology or hyper‑growth company preferred.management consulting or investment banking experience preferred.leadership experience with responsibility for business results in a fast‑paced, multi‑function environment.refined relationship development and leadership skills with proven track record of building credibility across all levels.experience with marketing technology, automation, and crms.experience establishing high‑impact, revenue‑generating commercial relationships.strong commercial acumen informing priorities and decisions.strong command over p&l and financial metrics.excellent written and oral communication skills.excellent organization and detail orientation.adaptable, comfortable managing changing priorities and building consensus across senior stakeholder groups.ownership and dependable leadership.quality focus and pride in delivery.ability to work in a fast‑paced, rapidly growing company and handle diverse challenges.world‑class individual contributor; you will not be here just to tell others what to do. #j-18808-ljbffr
