senior hse engineer - install
as a senior hse engineer at honeywell, you will support and administer health, safety, and environment requirements for our projects business across canada. You will ensure high standards of health and safety for employees, compliance with environmental regulations, and the implementation of best practices related to hse. You will report to the senior hse manager - canada and may need to travel within canada to project sites.
this role involves developing and implementing hse programs to ensure regulatory compliance and meet customer and honeywell requirements. Collaborating with cross-functional teams and influencing stakeholders will be key to integrating hse into business processes, contributing to our reputation as a responsible and sustainable organization.

key responsibilities
1. review bid documents and extract hse requirements.
2. identify hse cost impact items and collaborate with the bid team to incorporate these into proposals.
3. develop and implement comprehensive hse programs aligned with customer, regulatory, and honeywell standards.
4. ensure project compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations and requirements.
5. develop, maintain, and implement project-specific hse plans and procedures.
6. conduct risk assessments, inspections, and safety audits to identify hazards and implement mitigation measures.
7. develop, test, and maintain emergency response plans for hse incidents.
8. manage the hse budget, allocate resources, and seek cost-effective solutions.
9. promote environmental sustainability through eco-friendly practices.
10. collaborate with internal departments, management, and external stakeholders for effective communication and training.
11. support project management in contractor hse management, including vetting, onboarding, and compliance checks.
12. lead key hse improvement projects and incident investigations.
13. represent honeywell in front of customers and regulatory bodies on hse matters.
14. provide hse coverage during colleagues' leaves.
requirements
* bachelor's degree in engineering, environmental science, or related field.
* bilingual in english and french.
* minimum of 4 years' experience in hse within construction disciplines.
* deep knowledge of provincial hse regulations in canada, especially ontario and quebec.
* willingness to travel up to 50% as needed.
valued skills
* hse certification (crsp, cso) is a plus.
* proficiency in ms office, power bi, intelex, taproot.
* budget management and financial skills.
* strong safety and environmental stewardship passion.
* excellent communication, problem-solving, and strategic planning skills.
