plan a technologies is looking for a skilled senior backend engineer with google ai experience to lead the integration of generative ai into our core services. You will build high-performance backend systems using java (spring boot) and go, while leveraging google's vertex ai and gemini 3 models to create intelligent, autonomous features. This role is at the intersection of robust distributed systems and cutting-edge llm implementation.
please note: you must have at least 6+ years of experience with java or go and high proficiency with gemini/vertex/google ai to be considered for this role.
job responsibility
design and implement agentic workflows using gemini 3, focusing on multi-step reasoning, function calling, and dynamic \"thinking\" configurations.
architect and maintain scalable microservices in java and go, ensuring low-latency communication between ai services and core databases.
build and optimize retrieval-augmented generation (rag) pipelines using vertex ai search and vector databases (e.g., alloydb or bigquery vector search).
connect foundation models to real-world data and actions using vertex ai extensions and tool-use frameworks.
develop and version complex prompt templates in vertex ai studio, utilizing structured outputs (json/pojo) to ensure system reliability.
collaborate on the deployment and monitoring of ai models, focusing on evaluation, grounding, and safety filters.
experience
bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, finance, or a related field.
expert-level proficiency in java (spring boot, langchain4j) or go (go-routines, high-concurrency patterns).
hands-on experience with vertex ai api, google ai studio, and the gemini model family.
proven experience with function calling, semantic search, and managing llm context windows.
strong command of google cloud platform (gcp), including gke (kubernetes), cloud run, and iam security.
proficiency with sql (postgresql/alloydb) and nosql, specifically with an emphasis on vector search.
experience with ci/cd pipelines, docker, and monitoring tools like cloud logging/monitoring.
strong analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and excellent communication for cross-functional teamwork.
excellent verbal and written english communication skills.
ability to maintain a positive work attitude.
initiative and drive to do great things.
preferred qualifications
* experience migrating from gemini 2.5 to gemini 3.
* familiarity with langchain4j or similar frameworks for java-based ai orchestration.
* knowledge of model context protocol (mcp) or building custom ai agents.
