Bachelor's degree

the north america environmental assurance and protection (eap) organization is seeking a multi-site environmental manager (msem) to support our mexico (fcs) operations across (mexico).
this role supports multiple sites (6m+) in a specific super region (north and west).
the msem will develop standards and policies to support regulatory compliance as well as partner with operations leadership teams for execution of these standards and policies, to ensure compliance with all applicable county/locations specific federal, state/provincial and local laws and regulations.
the msem will have direct reports at every fc.
the msem is expected to visit assigned sites (6+) in their region once per month.
the msem travels up to 50% of the time.
- the position is available to be based at the following locations: monterrey, guadalajara, leon, hermosillo or tijuana
key job responsibilities
- manage and execute multi-site responsibilities to comply with air emissions, stormwater, waste, wastewater and other environmental related laws, regulations and permits.
this includes required federal, state and local reporting.
- manage and execute business conformance with amazon global environmental management systems through effective execution of amazon geo-specific operational environmental procedures.
- develop strategic programs by integrating with engineering, construction, and operations.
drive an environmentally responsible culture within the organization.
- function as a leader regarding regulatory agency interactions, permit evaluation and processing, and new process and technology introduction.
- be primary point of contact for environmental regulatory agencies.
- ensure work performed by contractors, consultants, and employees is completed in accordance with environmental regulatory requirements and amazon standards.
- measure and analyze sites' performance against published requirements in environmental policies.
for all deficiencies, identify a plan for the site to implement and fix all identified deficiencies
- develop environmental metrics to monitor and forecast performance.
- conduct thorough and accurate environmental inspections and audits for continuous improvement.
- prioritize and manage multiple technically complex assignments concurrently.
- represent amazon at appropriate levels with governmental agencies and throughout the company.
- monitor and provide guidance on site performance against applicable environmental regulations, programs and amazon global standards
- build collaborative relationships with various stakeholders to ensure risks are identified early and managed appropriately.
- compile and submit time critical reports to various governmental agencies.
- complete thorough and accurate environmental incident investigations and associated regulatory reports and develop appropriate corrective actions.

the msem will complete environmental performance analysis, establish and monitor metrics, and guide the operations leadership teams in implementation of amazon environmental standards.
the msem will work with internal and external partners that include government entities, contractors, consultants, design, construction, operations and other key stakeholders.

- 4+ years of experience serving as an environmental technical resource, regional manager, program specialist, and/or program manager
- experience using written and verbal communication skills, including comfort interfacing with site and regional leaders
- must be detailed minded and technically oriented to comfortably deep dive with engineering teams to understand operations process for environmental risk assessment.
- knowledge of mexican state and federal environmental regulations
- experience managing change in multiple site environments and the ability to influence peers and superiors
