Job summary
we are looking for a sre/application support engineer with java experience. The ideal candidate will have hands‑on experience with modern backend frameworks, cloud‑native technologies, and observability tools, combined with deep domain knowledge in card payments systems.
responsibilities
* monitor system performance and address complex issues to ensure smooth operations, conduct thorough investigations, and resolve critical incidents, performing root‑cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
* manage application maintenance activities, including performance tuning, major enhancements, comprehensive backup and recovery processes, and developing preventative maintenance procedures.
* lead and support service activities such as advanced access control, application installation, and retiring outdated systems.
* ensure quality standards in documentation and reporting, collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure adherence to quality standards during development and deployment, conduct disaster recovery testing, and lead post‑implementation reviews to ensure system resilience.
* shift duty: 8‑hour day shift between 6 am – 8 pm in a 24/7 support organization.
* java backend development with strong api usage experience (spring, quarkus, micronaut, vert.x).
* experience with cloud‑native technologies – docker, kubernetes.
* experience with software reliability engineering (sre) concepts (monitoring and alerting).
* strong experience in code reviews, automated testing, and defect remediation.
* knowledge around data structures, algorithms, and problem‑solving skills.
* managed team of technical production support engineers in a 24×7 shift‑based environment.
* understanding of e2e workflows of authorization approval and clearing & reconciliation processes.
* strong experience with databases: nosql / document dbs (e.g., couchbase or similar) and relational dbs (e.g., postgresql or similar).
* prometheus, grafana, splunk, and elk (elasticsearch, logstash, kibana) logging framework.
* git, gradle, ci/cd pipelines.
* experience building or improving service‑level monitoring (slis / slos).
* experience building monitoring dashboards and alerting.
* exposure to capacity planning, latency reduction, and performance tuning.
* experience with automation and recovery tooling.
* experience with orchestration and automation tooling.
* experience with payment network environment.
qualifications
* strong experience with etl/elk stack for effective log management and analysis.
* experience with code reviews, automated testing, and defect remediation.
* knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and problem‑solving skills.
* familiarity with ci/cd pipelines and deployment automation.
* 3+ years of software experience with good understanding of programming languages and extensive knowledge of production support processes and techniques.
* preferable a bs or ms degree in computer science, computer engineering, or other technical discipline.
