Senior specialist - applications engineer (americas)

application engineers are responsible for the governance of it applications within a defined scope; deliver and support applications across the americas portfolio, covering the full lifecycle from scoping and design through deployment, support, and optimization.
design, configure, and develop high‐quality solutions aligned with business needs, architecture standards, security, and governance requirements.
plan, track, and report on delivery scope, schedule, quality, risks, dependencies, and benefits; provide level 2 application support, including incident resolution, root-cause analysis, proactive maintenance, monitoring, and disaster recovery planning.
manage and coordinate vendors and outsourced partners, ensuring sla adherence and successful project delivery and transition to support.
engage with business and it stakeholders to align priorities, ensure roi, and drive demand and project outcomes.
key performance indicators, goals and metrics will be set on a regular basis and amended with your manager as required in line with business requirements
english language (oral and written) to an advanced proficiency, as the global business language of orica
~ spanish language (oral and written) strongly preferred for latam; portuguese beneficial
~ tertiary qualification in an it-related discipline
~2-5 years' of experience in an it role; qualys vulnerability case management and autodesk/autodesk vault support
~ ability to work independently, or as part of a project / team
~ exposure to configuration and support of large commercial packages and infrastructure
competency in both waterfall and agile project methodology
exposure to global organisations, including remote / distributed teams and line management
experience in business analyst, service desk other it support roles
flexibility on working time, to appropriately support the demands and issues of the day and to engage with colleagues within a global organisation
able to work either from an orica office, or from home
able to perform occasional visits to alternate operational sites or office locations (generally less than once per month)
