Field unit head position
this role focuses on representing unhcr's standards and promoting humane treatment of refugees. A key aspect is assessing the needs of affected populations with their participation, host governments, and competent partners.
main responsibilities
* advocate and promote unhcr standards concerning the treatment of persons of concern.
* ensure proper assessment of basic needs of concerned populations through beneficiary participation, host governments, and/or implementing partners.
* upon approval, oversee timely implementation and monitoring of assistance activities based on identified needs.
* guarantee subordinate staff meet deadlines for monitoring and reporting operational activities regularly.
* optimize use of unhcr resources (human, financial/material) for the well-being of the population and staff.
* maintain updated security measures for office and residential compounds; report breaches or potential threats to the un security coordinator immediately.
* foster satisfactory working and living conditions for staff within operational constraints.
* lead subordinate staff in maintaining high standards of conduct and behavior by example and guidance.
* submit regular reports to the representative/hoso/hofo.
* represent unhcr in inter-agency forums and with local authorities in the area of responsibility.
* enforce compliance with unhcr's global policies and standards regarding protection, programs, finance, hr, and security.
* promote and support project proposals for refugee assistance in coordination with local authorities and ngos.
* proactively manage risks and seize opportunities impacting objectives through risk assessments and team discussions.
the supervisor exercises oversight and provides guidance to the incumbent. All unhcr staff members are accountable for performing duties as reflected in their job description, adhering to regulatory frameworks and core competencies.
