Overview
the production manager is responsible for all aspects of the production operations at the nogales assembly plant. The person in this position is responsible for creating a culture of safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and continuous improvement.
responsibilities
* provide leadership to continuously improve a culture of safety.
* be a strategic thinker with a proven track record of operational excellence, including utilization of lean manufacturing techniques and tools.
* coordinate the hiring and training of direct employees, including headcount planning and performance management.
* oversee production; coordinate with internal & external contacts to ensure fulfillment of customer orders.
* involve production, maintenance, quality, engineering, and materials personnel in a team approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.
* drive the 5s deployment throughout the facility.
* lead in the use of quality systems and lean manufacturing techniques to drive continuous improvement.
* be a leader and motivator in a productive and collaborative working environment.
* have a good working knowledge of and implement world‑class manufacturing practices.
* be enthusiastic, hard‑working, and have a can‑do attitude.
* supervise, develop, and coach production supervisors and line leaders, ensuring they contribute to company objectives.
* foster creativity and innovation within the manufacturing team.
minimum qualifications
* technical or business discipline from an accredited university.
* at least ten years' experience in a production or manufacturing engineering role, including at least five years of supervisory experience.
* excellent communication, interpersonal, leadership, and technical skills, particularly with respect to a manufacturing environment.
* fully bilingual – english and spanish and experience with manufacturing in mexico.
* experience with tools such as lean manufacturing, 6‑sigma tools, spc, kanban, 5s, kaizen.
* history of increasing responsibilities with proven track record of achieving good results.
desired qualifications
* experience with high volume assembly operations.
* graduate degree in business or a technical discipline.
* previous experience as materials, quality, manufacturing, production, or plant manager.
* mba or other master's degree.
