a key focus being local sourcing, cost reduction opportunities and waste elimination.
this position also directly oversees international trades department, responsible for logistics, freight and customs (import/export) processes and procedures.responsibilitiesplan, organize, direct, control and evaluate the purchasing activities of the facility, including international trades department.develop purchasing policies and procedures and control purchasing department budget.oversee sourcing strategies ensuring alignment with skyjack global purchasing strategies.identify vendors for materials, equipment and supplies.lead supplier escalation calls.evaluate cost and quality of goods or services.negotiate or oversee the negotiation of contracts and warranty agreements.participate in the development of specifications for equipment, products or substitute materials.review and process claims against suppliers.attend all project apqps, project gate reviews and cflp meetings.lead cost savings and process improvement actions.interview, hire and oversee training of staff.perform other duties/projects as assigned.academic/educational requirementspost-secondary education in business administration, commerce, economics, material management or related field experience.required skills/experienceprevious experience in leading purchasing team desirable.demonstrated ability to lead, mentor and provide overall leadership and direction within work environment.strong commodity background.knowledge of material indices and fluctuations.analyze purchase trends for current and past years to identify seasonal variations in procurement.
also, analyze year-to-date spend, average inventory levels, inventory turnover rates and order fill rates to diagnose purchasing and distribution problems.assist in monitoring the quality of products and services.
