Material handling engineer/analyst (eom-685)

We are seeking a highly skilled Material Handling Engineer/Analyst to optimize material flow processes within our operations on Irapuato Plant. The selected candidate will be responsible for conducting detailed analyses, designing efficient layouts, and implementing innovative strategies to improve material movement, inventory accuracy, and overall operational efficiency. This role involves working directly with key personnel to take projects from initial concept through final implementation, ensuring compliance with Ford Safety Standards.

- Demonstrable experience in material handling analysis and optimization.
- Experience in equipment installation and validation, including safe equipment installation practices.
- Proficiency in interpreting and modifying AutoCAD drawings and reviewing layouts.
- Strong knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles, one-piece flow, and time and motion studies.
- Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and personnel.
- Strong problem-solving skills and analytical thinking.
- Excellent communication skills for disseminating technical information and collaborating with stakeholders.
- Proficiency in English

- Material Flow Analysis: Conduct comprehensive analysis of material flow from receiving docks to the marketplace, staging areas, assembly lines, and engine shipping.

- Dock Optimization: Identify dock utilization, propose ideal ramp numbers, and determine space requirements for staging and quality areas, considering window times, trailer unload patterns, and dedicated dock assignments.
- Material Route Analysis: Determine optimal part delivery methods, lead the formulation and implementation of material flow strategies, identify ideal material handling equipment, and analyze overall route utilization.
- Indirect Labor and Equipment Analysis: Develop and analyze the utilization of indirect labor (e.g., operators, drivers) and equipment to support all operations.
- Warehouse and Layout Designs: Develop and optimize plant layouts to improve material and personnel movement, and design efficient storage rack flows.
- PFEP (Plan For Every Part) Development: Define and implement a plan for every part, including delivery areas, minimum and maximum inventories. Update and improve existing databases, and collect data to analyze different material movement and inventory scenarios.
- Inventory Management: Verify minimum and maximum levels for every part in the marketplace.
- Packaging Development: Review packaging designs to avoid quality and delivery issues.
- Project Management and Implementation: Work directly with appropriate personnel to understand project concepts, objectives, and approaches. Take assigned projects from original concept through final implementation, following project scope and objectives.
- Collaboration and Documentation: Meet regularly with project teams and contractors to review deliverables and deadlines. Conduct periodic reviews of installation activities and review technical documents to ensure business requirements are adequately reflected. Disseminate information regarding mechanical installations and requirements.
- Safety Compliance: Work in accordance with Ford Safety Standards.
