Eaton’s corporate sector division is currently seeking a sr customs specialist.
*what you’ll do*:
function as a gtm expert on us imports, us customs, and us valuation processes for operations for eaton’s industrial and electrical sector businesses. The major role of the global trade management (gtm) customs lead is to provide execution on different import activities associated with meeting eaton compliance objectives. Develops and maintains thorough and current knowledge of international trade laws and regulations applicable to imports with emphasis on customs clearance and customs valuation. Ensures full execution of critical corporate strategies to minimize customs clearance delays and to execute critical corporate standards that identifies required adjustments to customs value, coordinates adjustments and duty payments and recoveries.
Function as the global trade expert and be a resource for providing support to the import compliance program. Develops and maintains thorough and current knowledge of international trade laws and regulations applicable to import entry and valuation trade activities. The primary focus of this position includes customs clearance improvements, customs valuation reconciliation programs and ensuring all adjustments are accounted for and accurately transmitted to customs.
Essential functions:
a. Develop and deploy eaton scm-gtm standards on eaton suppliers (related and non-related) to minimize customs clearance delays. Acquire supplier (including brokers) performance metrics and engage eaton bu’s and unrelated suppliers to provide training on customs clearance and specific issues that cause delays at importation.
B. Engage with bu’s to acquire needed information and data for duty deferral and customs clearance.
C. Develop and deploy process and procedures for anti-dumping / countervailing duty cases against eaton import activity. Engage bu product / engineering primes to review case definition against bu product attributes to identify in-scope products. Update broker templates and notify brokers on time.
D. Develop and deploy processes that collects and maintains import entry records in accordance with customs requirements. Establish engagement with brokers and any internal functions to ensure receipt and maintenance of records. Create and publish performance metrics.
E. Create and develop monthly kpi´s to show improvements in the customs clearance delays and to create strategies to reduce delays and improve efficiency in the different areas related to gtm.
F. Ensure continuous eligibility for entry filing through bond efficiency testing and maintenance of power of attorney. G. Manage government reporting user accounts for designated eaton employees. Ensure access and training on import entry reporting through government customs systems
h. Collect data and information from gtm leads and bu personnel relating to the requirement of adjusting customs valuation for all us business units in electrical / industrial sectors. This can include mx plant cost submissions, transfer price adjustments, assists and royalties.
I. Use gtm self-assessments, peer review audits and related information to analyze trade data at the business unit level including but not limited to assists, cost submissions, transfer price adjustments, royalties and related additions and subtractions to value

*qualifications*:
- under-graduate degree required.
- 5-7 years direct import compliance experience in a major corporation, service company, or law firm.
- must be able to demonstrate proficiency in customs regulations as well as other government agency regulations.
- english proficiency
- understanding of import entry process and auditing for compliance.
- understanding of import valuation assists and additions to value requirements. Preferred experience constructing and submitting value adjustments to customs.
- proven ability to identify areas where process improvement is required, to develop process improvements with businesses, and to assist businesses in implementing those improvements.
- experience in developing and delivering trade compliance training.
