Overview

engineer ii - continuous improvement – location: juárez, nl. Onsite. Kohler samimex opportunity.

basic function

under the supervision of the project specialist /cic, this position is responsible to implement the adequate manufacturing processes and the continuous improvement projects aimed to achieve efficiency and productivity, as well as decrease waste and cost. Improve the working conditions using engineering techniques, update the standard times for all activities in the production areas, perform 5s audits and follow up on the kos savings. To be successful in this role, the candidate should display an analytical approach to time study and movements, detect waste activities, and implement effective actions to reduce them.

responsibilities
* develop activities such as: cycle time reduction, worker effort and inventory reduction, floor improvement, to improve work conditions, reducing or eliminating waste.
* provide follow up to activities such as: cycle time reduction, worker effort and inventory reduction, floor improvement, to improve work conditions, reducing or eliminating waste, using the 7 waste reduction forms.
* analyze the process to determine adequate work conditions related to space, layouts, lighting, breaks, manpower, tools and equipment.
* support activities to complete time studies; slip weight, glaze weight, fired weight, pack weight updates in both plants to determine the cost of each product.
* support activities during the kos events and assist all teams with methodology application.
* maintain standard work studies updated, not older than 1 year.
* maintain the layered process audit updated and standardized.
* provide follow up to achieve kos savings goals and report savings on a monthly basis; achieve the goals and create a new list for every year.
* provide support to all areas in the plant on structural fabrication to improve productivity, safety and quality (kaizen team).
* comply with the health and safety roles and responsibilities established for this position.

* reports to the project specialist (cic).

organization relationships:

* medium contact with process engineers and general supervisors.
* frequent contact with quality personnel, with the accountant and with people from materials.
* frequent contact with people from corporate.

external relationships:

education, experience and formation

education: preference bachelor degree in engineering.

experience: preference five years of related experience.

formation: preference must have the ability to understand sap and vis systems, standard cost and bom structure. Bilingual (english & spanish) is required. Lean tools knowledge.
