Morgan philips executive search is looking for a general manager for one its european clients.
this person should manage and be responsible for general supervision of all phases of plant operations, including: production, logistics, quality, purchasing, maintenance, engineering, cost control, human resources, environmental health and safety.
in addition, the gm will be responsible for annual budget planning and execution.
the gm will work closely with the production team to increase productivity and profitability within the manufacturing operation.the aim of the position is to implement corporate rules of action, directives, strategies and philosophies and ensure adherence to the group's missions and targets.
missions
- provide leadership for the successful day-to-day operation of the facility
- work closely with quality personnel to review product consistency while monitoring scrap rates to determine trends and areas of improvement
- review established production schedules for all manufacturing departments to ensure established inventory levels are met while operating at the highest efficiency possible
- coordinate the hiring and training of all manufacturing personnel
- monitor operation expenses and research ways to reduce costs while maintaining product quality
- works closely with the environmental health and safety manager to ensure all members of the manufacturing team are aware of safety policies to provide a safe workplace for our employees
- maintain inventory levels and control flow of products from other worldwide company facilities
- maintain and support a superior safety and housekeeping program, including all timely communication initiatives
- develop and execute the plant manufacturing budgets
- analyze workforce requirements
- select and maintain qualified personnel in all positions reporting directly and recommend compensation for them
- direct, monitor and appraise the performance of units immediately reporting and provides the necessary coordination between activities
- identifies training needs, initiates development of subordinates and recommends effective personnel actions
- keep employees informed as to company / department plans and progress
- coordinate activities of assigned units with those of other company units
- coordinate the relationship with our union work force and negotiate union contracts as needed
- encourage and promote operating in a continuous improvement environment
- remove waste constraints fom the production process to improve efficiencies and enhance productivity
- communicate with research and development as well as product management personnel to develop new product strategies
- work with purchasing manager to develop and improve supplier relationships

- present monthly reports on performance as requested by the company
- define and recommend objectives in each area of operations the company

10+ years of progressive experience in automotive and/or white goods industries
significant experience in a key leadership/ management role at a manufacturing facility
previous experience / best practices implementing and using continuous improvement / lean tools
deep knowledge in industrial process and lean manufacturing
previous experience of safety systems and enforcement of safety rules and policies
previous experience / strong understanding of budgeting / expense management with a basic understanding of financial and accounting practices
educational background
bachelors' degree in mechanical or electrical engineering
further education in business / finance / management / operations field preferred
languages
fluent in english and in spanish
the knowledge of another language is a plus
