About This Position
The FSM Department is establishing a Talent Pipeline of highly qualified professionals, Senior Associates and Officers to strengthen the Capital Markets, Structured & Corporate Finance Division. This talent pool will enable the division to respond rapidly to emerging business needs and support growth initiatives with pre-vetted professionals.
Ideal candidates will possess robust financial and credit analysis skills, strategic thinking, along with expertise in Capital Markets.
The selected candidates will contribute to the origination, structuring, execution, and monitoring of innovative financial solutions, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and engaging diverse stakeholders.
What you’ll do
As Senior Associate, Your Key Responsibilities Will Be
- Conducts data gathering and in-depth analysis on moderate to complex financial transactions and projects.
- Prepares sector, product and project presentations.
- Performs external analysis of financial, market, and technological trends relevant to financial products.
- Takes initiative as directed, sets up support systems/processes to underpin implementation.
- Builds technical expertise and collaborates across teams to address client/project needs.
In addition to the responsibilities outlined above for the Senior Associate role, as an Officer your key responsibilities will include:
- Lead structuring, documenting and distribution of Transactions, working in close coordination with external clients, credit, legal and development effectiveness teams.
- Provides rigorous analysis on complex projects, processes, or financial transactions.
- Engages in consultations with internal/external clients to determine business and product needs.
- Reviews deliverables, manages implementation issues, and contributes to client-facing presentations.
- Develops technical capabilities and expertise in assigned area.
- Maintain knowledge of industry and transactions including the preparation of lessons learned from projects.
Specific Expertise
- Hands-on experience in origination, structuring, and execution of debt securities, including drafting term sheets and collaborating with legal teams.
- Strong understanding of risk management across credit, legal, operational, and compliance fields to support complex bond transactions.
- Collaborate within the team and across IDB Invest for developing regional capital markets and structured finance strategies and support related promotion work, including marketing, mobilization of other investors, and communications.
- Knowledge in capital optimization, bond issuances, securitization and guarantee products.
What you’ll need
- Education: You hold at least a Master’s degree, or equivalent in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Engineering, International Development or other relevant field.
- Experience: for a Senior Associate at least 3 years and for an Officer at least 5 years of relevant professional experience at a financial institution, corporation, investment fund, multilateral development bank or other private sector entity is required.
- Languages: Proficiency in Spanish and English, spoken and written, is required. (Portuguese and French will be considered as a plus).
Requirements
- Citizenship: For National Staff: You are either a citizen of any of our Country Offices’ locations or a non-citizen eligible to obtain residency or authorization to work in the country in which you are to be assigned without the need for sponsorship by IDB Invest.
- For International Staff: There are no citizenship requirements.
- Consanguinity: No family members (up to the fourth degree of consanguinity and second degree of affinity, including spouse) working at the IDB, IDB Invest, or IDB Lab.
Type of contract and duration
International or National staff contract, 36 months initially, renewable upon mutual agreement.
