job summary
the account manager is responsible for developing profitable growth. The primary focus will be on developing potential target customers based on a specialization platform. Responsibilities include forecasting annual objectives for sales, margins, and volume growth. The role requires the ability to sell at all management levels and build relationships that ensure avient remains a preferred partner. The individual must assist customers in problem-solving to deliver solutions, bringing energy, enthusiasm, and professionalism daily. This role operates independently with minimal supervision and involves interacting and influencing at managerial peer levels. Up to 75% travel is required.
essential functions
the purpose of the sales function is to deliver:
* profitable revenue growth, including new business development.
* achieving gross margin targets as a percentage of sales.
* professional sales approach utilizing customer-centric selling skills and tools such as scorecards, business reviews, eve tools, high/wide/deep strategies, warning signs, prospecting, developing a sales funnel, ar collection, debt avoidance, cross-selling, and crm management.
* establishing, tracking, and closing new business targets within the territory.
* developing contact matrices and establishing relationships with key decision-makers.
* prospecting and cold calling.
* managing sales plans, budgets, and expenses.
* developing account plans and networking within customer organizations and internally at avient.
* delivering results aligned with the annual operating plan (aop).
* building account relationships, identifying opportunities, and capturing service opportunities at strategic accounts.
* understanding industry trends, key players, and customer needs to leverage success across industries.
* collaborating with regional sales and technical teams to drive growth through solutions selling.
* linking customer business strategies with avient’s capabilities.
* monitoring competition and developing strategies to overcome barriers.
* implementing pricing, market strategies, and business practices; negotiating contracts and value packages.
* participating in strategy development and defining target markets and commercial strategies.
* developing account plans for top strategic accounts with metrics for sales potential.
