job overview:
we are seeking an experienced sap btp specialist responsible for supporting product development and service offerings on sap business technology platform (btp) ensuring high availability, security, and seamless integration with sap s/4hana (private/public cloud) and other enterprise systems. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in key sap btp services, identity & access management, security configurations, system monitoring, and integration with sap and non-sap environments. This role requires a good understanding of cloud-native principles, intelligent technologies and devops automation within sap btp, while aligning with sap's "keep core clean" approach. The candidate should have prior background (techno-functional) in sap with at least 3+ years of sap s/4hana implementation experience and good understanding of sap technologies (e.g.: abap, odata services, fiori apps, etc.) and erp functions like mm, sd, pp etc.
key responsibilities
· act as a technical subject matter expert and consultant, provide product expertise, guidance, and instruction on sap btp.
· work closely with functional teams (sd, mm, finance) to understand business needs and translate functional/technical requirements to build the solution or product.
· provide guidance on the sap btp platform business values, architecture, and catalogue of services.
· develop proof of concepts/pilot and document solution blueprints, technical specifications, and implementation plans for sap s/4 solutions and btp services like sap business ai, build automation, joule studio
· establish processes/tools and provide technical guidance to the it and business teams to adopt sap best practices, devops methodologies and clean core principles
· analyze evolving sap innovations and business transformation needs to identify opportunities for new features or products to foster innovation, accelerate transformation and enable early adaptation on emerging technologies
· plan and manage sap btp & sap gen ai product roadmap based on feedback, business goals, and technical feasibility
· work with the platform engineering team to prioritize features and oversee the development.
· create materials for product demos and presentations to communicate the value proposition.
· propose clean-core-aligned solutions (e.g., btp extensions over core modifications) to minimize s/4hana customizations.
· design and build custom applications on sap btp using cap (cloud application programming), rap, and side-by-side extensibility
· integrate btp with s/4hana, legacy systems, and third-party solutions via apis, event mesh, and sap integration suite.
· develop fiori/ui5 applications and extend standard sap fiori apps
· build and enhance odata services for fiori/ui5 applications and external integrations.
·engage with development team to enable ci/cd pipelines for abap/btp development, including automated testing, code reviews, and deployment via btp devops services.
· implement security best practices, ensure compliance with data protection and privacy regulations
· prepare necessary artifacts and drive cyber security, data privacy, architecture review process to seek necessary approvals
· responsible to keep abreast of industry trends and innovations and future sap roadmap items for respective process areas and explore new innovations (eg: ai/ml, joule )
· engage with sap's ecosystem of customers and partners to co-innovate
qualifications
minimum:
· bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent experience
· 8+ years implementation experience in sap (techno-functional)
desired:
· 3+ years fiori/htlm5 development experience for sap s/4hana, sap integration experience using middleware
· minimum of 2-year experience & understanding of sap fiori tools development and sap btp ui services
· minimum of 3-year experience & understanding sap s/4hana and application development language
· strong knowledge and hands-on experience with key sap btp services like build automation, work zone, btp cockpit, build apps, build code
· good understanding of sap btp architecture, including integration patterns, security models, and data management
· proficiency in designing and developing scalable solutions using sap btp services and apis
· development experience with one or more btp extension technologies: cloud application programming model (cap), abap restful application programming model (rap), low-code/no-code, build workzone, build automation)
· familiarity with platform services generally used for technical tasks, like audit log, hana cloud, notifications, cloud foundry, ci/cd, sap business application studio, transport management, connectivity
· excellent verbal, written and presentation skills with the ability to effectively interact with internal and external business partners
· ability to work with limited supervision
preferred:
· familiarity with hybrid landscapes (on-premise + cloud).
· sap certification in any of the abap, btp development
