The materials manager is responsible for leading the planning, procurement, control, and efficient flow of materials to ensure uninterrupted production and on-time delivery to customers. This role ensures optimal inventory management, cost control, and compliance with corporate and legal requirements across the supply chain.
key responsibilities
* lead the functions of materials planning, purchasing, warehousing, logistics, and traffic.
* ensure production schedules are met by securing material availability on time and in full.
* develop and execute sourcing strategies to optimize costs and minimize supply risks.
* implement inventory management policies that balance efficiency, cost, and customer service.
* monitor and improve kpis such as inventory levels, turnover, obsolescence, otif, and forecast accuracy.
* coordinate with suppliers and internal stakeholders to maintain effective supply chain planning.
* drive continuous improvement projects in logistics, warehousing, and procurement to increase productivity and reduce costs.
* ensure compliance with corporate policies, trade regulations, and applicable legal requirements.
* develop, train, and motivate the materials team to achieve high performance.
requirements
* bachelor's degree in industrial engineering, business administration, international trade, or related field (master's degree preferred).
* 7+ years of experience in materials, logistics, or supply chain management within the manufacturing industry (automotive or tier 1 experience preferred).
* proven experience leading cross-functional teams.
* strong knowledge of erp/mrp systems (sap, oracle, or equivalent).
* expertise in inventory management, procurement processes, and international trade.
* advanced english (required for corporate and international customer interaction).
* strong analytical, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
