position objective
the ehs coordinator is responsible for developing, implementing, maintaining, and improving the plant’s safety management system, ensuring compliance with applicable mexican legislation, corporate requirements, and client standards.
general responsibilities
* understand, comply with, and ensure compliance with all controlled documentation related to industrial safety.
* develop, maintain, and improve the plant’s ehs management system.
* actively promote a culture of safety, health, and environmental protection at all organizational levels.
* serve as the point of contact for regulatory authorities and internal/external audits.
* keep the legal requirements matrix updated in matters of safety.
* conduct risk analyses for machinery, areas, processes, and job positions.
legal and regulatory compliance (mexico)
* ensure compliance with applicable mexican official standards (noms).
* coordinate the safety and hygiene commission in accordance with nom-019-stps: integration, training, inspection programs, minutes, and follow‑up actions.
industrial safety and occupational health
* ensure safety compliance in printing machinery and equipment.
* implement and maintain high‑risk work permits.
* coordinate risk analyses by position and process.
* work with the medical department to monitor employee health in relation to environmental risks.
* ensure availability, use, and proper handling of ppe.
* investigate incidents and accidents, lead root cause analyses, and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
emergency response and civil protection
* provide necessary information to the internal program executor.
* coordinate brigade training.
* ensure compliance with nom-002-stps.
* guarantee regulatory compliance.
environmental management – iso 14001
* implement emergency response plans.
smeta and client standards
* prepare and follow up on smeta and client audits.
* manage action plans from findings and ensure effective closure.
fda (when applicable)
* ensure integration of ehs programs with fda and gmp requirements, especially in:
* chemical handling
* personnel training
training and safety culture
* develop and coordinate the annual ehs training program.
* train staff on risk analysis results.
* manage specific training according to regulatory requirements (warehouse, maintenance staff).
* ensure issuance, and control of dc‑3 certificates.
* train and raise awareness among contractors and visitors.
* develop campaigns such as safety week and family day (support).
indicators, reports, and projects
* establish, analyze, and report safety, health, and environmental kpis.
* prepare structured reports.
* manage ehs projects using formal project management methodologies.
* support the leadership team with assigned strategic projects.
* manage progress indicators from safety audits.
job requirements
* preferred education: chemical engineering, environmental engineering, industrial engineering.
* minimum 1–2 years of experience in manufacturing industry.
* practical knowledge of:
o stps and nom stps regulations
o iso 14001
o smeta
o fda (preferred)
o iso 9001
* leadership and communication skills.
* ability to work directly on the production floor.
* intermediate to advanced proficiency in excel, word, and powerpoint.
* high ethical integrity and professional credibility.
* intermediate english proficiency.
