Director of crossborder logistics operations & client relations

beyond operational excellence, this role has a strong mandate to drive growth within existing client accounts. The incumbent will expand business opportunities by leveraging service performance, proactive engagement, and strategic capacity planning. The ideal candidate is a strategic thinker with deep understanding of supply chain management, logistics, carrier management, and a proven ability to cultivate and expand client partnerships in close collaboration with sales, account management, and carrier sales teams.
1. Strategic planning & account growth
collaborate with senior management to develop long-term strategies for operations and account expansion.
partner with sales, account management, and carrier sales teams to identify opportunities for organic growth within current accounts, maximizing share of wallet.
provide accurate input to the pricing department for rfps and renewals to strengthen client relationships and secure additional business.
2. Customer relationship & business growth
work closely with sales, account management, and carrier sales leadership to identify cross-selling and up-selling opportunities.
increase revenue from current clients by ensuring superior service, strengthening trust, and positioning the company as a growth partner supported by integrated carrier solutions.
3. Carrier management
implement and train best practices to acquire capacity from carriers, focusing on carrier relationship development, negotiated discounted rates, and service reliability.
work with carrier sales to maintain a growing active carrier base with detailed equipment and resources that can be strategically deployed to meet evolving client needs.
identify struggling lanes and work with the carrier sales team to acquire more capacity and develop tailored solutions for customer requirements.
operational objectives – customer service & account growth
personally attend at least one monthly meeting with key clients to strengthen relationships and explore additional business opportunities in coordination with the sales manager and carrier sales leadership.
increase volume and revenue from the existing client base by 15% within the next 12 months through improved service performance, proactive engagement, and strategic carrier-enabled solutions.
qualifications
bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field.
minimum 10 years of experience in logistics, supply chain management, or 3pl operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
advanced english skills.
strong understanding of logistics software and technology, including warehouse management systems (wms) and transportation management systems (tms). Experience with mcleod is a plus.
excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
proven ability to manage budgets, analyze financial data, and drive cost-effective solutions.
strong problem-solving skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities effectively.
