the network engineer is responsible for design, provision, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software and related infrastructure. This person is expected to be a subject matter expert managing converged network technologies. Will also input to network architecture to ensure appropriate technology strategy to meet business requirements. This individual should be a highly qualified network with up-to-date hands-on skills. In addition, the ability to interact with distributed engineers, customers, and all levels of senior executive staff.

general accountabilities
* design and implement lan/wan/wlan, sd-wan, unified communications, and security solutions.
* troubleshoot and maintain routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless controllers.
* act as an escalation point for complex network and uc issues.
* collaborate with cross-functional teams and provide expert-level network support.
* maintain documentation and infrastructure diagrams.
* analyze and monitor network performance and recommend improvements.
* work with tools like wireshark, solarwinds, rtmt, netmon, etc.
job qualifications
* collaboration: voip, sip, mgcp, sccp, fxo/fxs, sbc, emergency responder.
* virtualization & infra: esxi, vrfs, vdcs, f5 load balancers, citrix netscaler.
* ip services: infoblox, dns/dhcp management.
* other: juniper, cisco ise, anyconnect vpn, prime site survey.
education
* bachelor's degree preferred.
* itsm foundation training required.
experience
* 5+ years of experience in enterprise networks or managed service environments.
* strong hands-on expertise in cisco environments; ccnp enterprise required.
* experience with collaboration platforms and uc architecture.
* solid understanding of network protocols, tcp/ip, qos, rtp, srtp, snmp, netflow.
* proficient in troubleshooting with network tools and debuggers.
* msp or consulting background is a plus.
