Their products can be found in many industries, including automotive, packaging, material handling and logistics, robotics, converting and printing, and commercial equipment. They have a global network of distributors and representatives which makes our client perfectly positioned to meet the motion control needs of customers worldwide. Almost two years ago, they formally directly started a mexico sales operation and are seeking to drive growth and expansion.
the position
job summary:
the application engineer provides technical support and solution development to automation customers by helping them understand, implement, and optimize product applications. This includes troubleshooting (resolving technical issues), product selection, and programming. This role involves customizing solutions, product demonstrations, conducting training, supporting automation projects both remotely and onsite and ensuring customer satisfaction while collaborating with teams across the company to enhance product offerings. The position works closely with sales teams to align technical solutions with business goals and build strong customer relationships. Ideally this candidate will be based in queretaro. However, if the candidate hired lives outside of queretaro (although not preferred) like mexico city, or the bajio region (i.e. Celaya, leon, silao, etc) then this position will work remotely but will require extensive business travel which could be over 50%+ travel.
job responsibilities:
product support
* provide internal and external product support via phone, email, virtual meetings, remote access, and onsite visits.
* size and select company products and solutions based on customer/application requirements.
engineering services
* parameterize and commission company drives (inverters/vfd/servo) per customer specifications.
* develop and commission customer plc and hmi software programs per customer specifications.
product demonstration and training
* conduct product demonstrations and training sessions for internal and external customers.
* internal and external automation, solution and systems training.
* develop and present proof of concepts with lab/demo hardware.
* assist in the preparation of technical proposals and presentations.
sales and customer relationship management
* provide sales support to field sales via phone, email, virtual meetings, and sales visits.
* identify opportunities for upselling and cross-selling based on customer interactions.
* contribute to achieving sales targets by aligning technical solutions with business goals.
* build and maintain strong relationships with key customers.
* travel up to 50%, including overnight stays

* interfaces with all departments and all levels of management
* interfaces with assembly employees and supervisors
the candidate
candidate experience, skills and education:
* bachelor’s degree in engineering (prefer mechatronics, robotics or mechanical engineering but will also consider electrical or electronics engineering). Will also consider business, it or related fields or equivalent experience.
* 5+ years’ experience as an applications engineer or similar supporting manufacturing and industrial clients.
* motion control systems and motion drive technology, robotics experience or similar is required. Automation project support experience.
* experienced with product troubleshooting with clients.
* experience with motion control systems, plc and hmi programming and industrial communication protocols (ethercat, can, ethernet-ip, rs232/485)
* proficient in iec 61131-3 programming languages (ladder, structured text, function block diagram)
* strong mechatronics background, integrating mechanical, electrical, and software systems
* skilled in machine commissioning and creating application/machine specifications
* familiarity with wiring diagrams and troubleshooting customer wiring
* preferred experience with visual basic, windows-based software installation and setup
* knowledge of machine safety standards and project management practices
* solid understanding of windows os and microsoft tools (excel, word, powerpoint, outlook, visio, ms project)
* collaborative and excellent communication skills

* ability to travel up to 50%.
* proficient in english (75%+) and fluent in spanish.

physical requirements:
this position requires the ability to regularly sit at a desk for long periods of time and perform physical tasks including but not limited to lifting, carrying, pulling, pushing, and reaching. Continuous mental and/or visual attention requires constant alertness to monitor warehouse processes and/or identify problems. The work environment will sometimes be in a cold warehouse setting and may be exposed to dust, fumes, dirt, noise, and water. It requires the ability to travel as needed, with occasional overnight travel. Must have a valid driver’s license and be able to pass a motor vehicle record check. Ability to meet the above description of position with or without reasonable accommodation.
