Sr. manager, manufacturing supplier excellence & risk mitigation

Overviewthe purpose of this role is to proactively mitigate supply chain risks that could impact ford motor company’s manufacturing operations. You will lead a team of motivated individuals resolving a caseload of operationally and financially distressed production suppliers. The role requires delivering robust risk mitigation strategies to protect ford’s vehicle and powertrain production plants and executing interim and permanent corrective actions with suppliers to ensure a resilient supply signal aligned with ford’s supply chain organization's strategic objectives. Strong cross-functional communication across the organization and with suppliers is essential to success.responsibilitieskey responsibilities:strategic leadership & team management: lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of supply operations specialists, fostering accountability and continuous improvement.staffing & development: support the growth and development of the supply operations team (sot) in line with the one ford initiative and ford os leadership behaviors; establish appropriate staffing levels and foster diversity in all aspects of the business.performance & reporting: establish and monitor kpis for the sot and provide high-level, concise reporting to senior management on supply chain performance, challenges, and recommended actions.risk mitigation & crisis management: oversee the resolution of highly complex supplier issues that threaten production; engage suppliers classified as “no confidence” and “imminent risk to disrupt” with stabilization plans and reviews.collaboration & no lost units: collaborate cross-functionally to align resources around the goal of "no lost units" due to supply disruptions.crisis planning: develop and implement proactive crisis management plans to respond to supplier disruptions, ensuring vehicle/powertrain production remains uninterrupted.plan execution: lead and support the execution of comprehensive risk mitigation plans to minimize supply risk.operational excellence & collaboration: ensure seamless "supply signals" pass through the control tower and communicate operational challenges; drive collaboration with supplier partners to enable process improvements and sustain uninterrupted north american vehicle and powertrain production.process & transfer: direct the team with respect to the business transfer process, assigning roles to sot senior operations specialists and operations specialists.relationships: build strong relationships with other functions, joint venture partners, and external suppliers to foster a collaborative environment.compliance & advocacy: ensure team compliance with company policies, best practices, and audit requirements; advocate standardized work processes and methodologies across the function.qualificationsminimum qualifications:bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, mechanical engineering, supply chain, business administration, or related field.8+ years of manufacturing operations experience, with supply chain experience preferred.3+ years of managerial/people leadership experience.fluency in english for effective communication with global teams.strong understanding of manufacturing processes, throughput, and program management.ability to prepare and present material to senior leadership; high analytical ability for solving unusual, difficult, or complex problems.ability to lead problem-solving activities and manage resolution targets; handle multiple time-sensitive matters and ambiguity.ability to assess complex supply chain issues, lead cross-functional teams, and develop creative solutions to minimize vehicle production losses.proficient in ms office/excel; ability to travel up to 75% to supplier plant locations; weekend availability as required.flexibility to work extended and non-core hours to resolve issues; self-motivated, independent, and resourceful.preferred qualifications:understanding of safe launch, apqp, ppap, and industrialization processes.familiarity with ford systems knowledge, including cmms, vpp, otg, and wers.
