responsibilities
* coordinate maintenance and repair of high-volume injection mold tooling.
* document and oversee internal and external activities of the mold improvement plan.
* work with tooling engineers and planners to define and complete mold repair tasks.
* manage logistics for sending molds out for repair and returning them on time.
* collaborate with process and quality engineers to re-qualify molds after major repairs.
* ensure adherence to corporate mold maintenance procedures for internal and external molds.
* maintain mold preventive maintenance records with internal and external molders.
* identify, justify, and implement cost reduction projects related to mold maintenance and repair.
* manage inventory and procurement of injection mold spare parts.
* work with cross-functional teams to improve mold performance and consistency.
* develop capacity analysis for all tools in the el lago molding operation.
minimum qualifications
* bachelor's degree in engineering.
* proven experience achieving results in related responsibilities.
* bilingual in spanish and english with excellent communication skills.
* 5+ years as a tooling engineer with hands-on experience in mold specification, procurement, qualification, maintenance, and repair.
* strong knowledge of mechanical engineering concepts.
* ability to perform investment justifications.
* knowledge of plastic processing, statistical process control, and process capability.
* willingness to travel up to 30% of the time.
* organized, enthusiastic, energetic, with a strong work ethic.
* excellent customer service skills and ability to collaborate effectively.
* proficient in microsoft office suite.
desired qualifications
* experience in mold making or mold design.
* proficiency in cad (solidworks) and mold flow analysis.
* experience procuring tooling from the far east.
