Welding process engineer job description
we are seeking a highly skilled welding process engineer to join our team. As a welding process engineer, you will be responsible for the development, optimization, and supervision of welding processes to ensure high-quality and cost-effective fabrication.
key responsibilities:
* develop and standardize welding processes for various products and structures in alignment with engineering specifications.
* define welding parameters, procedures (wps/pqr), and material compatibility according to project requirements.
* support production with technical troubleshooting and root cause analysis of welding issues.
* ensure welding quality and compliance with standards such as aws, iso, or asme.
* collaborate with the design and quality teams to improve manufacturability and reduce defects.
* evaluate and implement new welding technologies, tools, and materials.
* conduct training and certification of welders based on internal standards and industry regulations.
* lead or support continuous improvement projects focused on cost, safety, and performance.
requirements:
* bachelor's degree in welding engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field.
* minimum 3–5 years of experience in welding engineering within a manufacturing or metal fabrication environment.
* in-depth knowledge of welding processes (mig, tig, stick, etc.)
* familiarity with aws/asme/iso welding codes and standards
* experience in wps, pqr, and welder qualification processes
* ability to read and interpret blueprints and welding symbols
* proficiency in microsoft office and technical documentation tools
* english intermediate to advanced – required for standards, technical documents, and supplier communication.
