Svitla systems inc. is looking for a machinery diagnostics engineer for a full-time position (40 hours per week) in mexico. Our client is a us-based company that specializes in developing innovative new technologies and services to enhance plant asset management. They create mechanical, electrical, and software-based solutions to enable plants to monitor and maintain their critical equipment. The company offers a range of products and services, including asset health monitoring, removable brush holders, brush condition monitoring, shaft grounding systems, and various technologies for power plants. It provides condition monitoring hardware, proprietary embedded software, enterprise-level data acquisition and visualization, along with predictive analytical software, to ensure asset health and optimize maintenance budgets. It enables industries such as power generation, oil and gas, petrochemical, metals, mining, and manufacturing to maintain asset health and optimize maintenance efforts.
you’ll be responsible for diagnosing and resolving complex issues with machinery and electrical assets through advanced diagnostic techniques, ensuring optimal performance and reliability, with a specific focus on supporting the development of software products.
requirements
* bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field. Master’s degree preferred.
* 3-5 years of experience in machinery diagnostics, with a focus on:
o expertise in diagnosing motor rotor bars, bearings, gearboxes, gear mesh, and windings in motors, generators, and transformers;
o strong understanding of torque effects, displacement, and acceleration in machinery.
o knowledge of analyzing rotor eccentricities and shaft displacement;
o experience using fea tools for machinery modeling and analysis;
o expertise in time domain waveform analysis and frequency domain techniques (fft, wavelets), with knowledge of current imbalance, harmonics, and related parameters;
o expertise in analyzing rms, peak, crest factor, pattern recognition, and baseline deviations.
* knowledge of microsoft office, adobe acrobat pro, and diagnostic software platforms (e.g., vibration analyzers, fea software, radio frequency interference analysis, signal processing tools).
* proficient in diagnostic tools and software (e.g., vibration analyzers, fea software, signal processing tools, radio frequency interference analysis, microsoft office, adobe acrobat pro).
* strong skills in technical writing, mathematical, analytical, and organizational, with a quality orientation and attention to detail.
* solid understanding of cloud-based computing.
* the readiness to successfully pass a background check for cybersecurity access requirements.
nice to have
* 5+ years of experience in machinery diagnostics, predictive maintenance, or technical reporting.
* engineering or technical background in machinery diagnostics.
* ability to conform diagnostic reports to a style guide.
* experience with canva, matlab, or other data visualization tools.
* certification in vibration analysis (e.g., iso 18436-2) or related fields.
* experience with content management systems (e.g., zendesk, paligo).
responsibilities
* works under the software/r&d team to support the development of a strategic software platform to provide customer with reliable diagnostic tools for their overall asset management needs.
* identify, recommend, and implement improvements to diagnostic methodologies, tools, and reporting formats, including vibration analysis reports, electrical signature analysis outputs, and finite element analysis models.
* oversee the development and maintenance of diagnostic data repositories to ensure accessibility, usability, and compliance with organizational standards, including:
o diagnostic data management systems;
o document repository (e.g., zendesk, paligo);
o other similar systems are assigned.
* collaborate with engineering, research & development, operations, and other departments to diagnose machinery issues and maintain technical documentation, including diagnostic reports, manuals, and knowledge base articles.
* maintain a working knowledge of the company’s machinery/electrical assets and systems, analyzing performance data to determine the need for maintenance, repairs, or upgrades in existing equipment.
* confer with internal partners, vendors, or service providers to establish diagnostic specifications, resolve issues, and develop new diagnostic methodologies.
* draft, review, and edit diagnostic reports, initiating and responding to requests for changes, and recommending improvements as needed.
* advise and perform modifications to report layouts to effectively present diagnostic data, including graphs, charts, and illustrations.
* develop standard procedures for collecting and analyzing diagnostic data, including vibration, electrical, and kinetic data.
* select or recommend graphics, such as frequency spectra, waveforms, or finite element models, to illustrate diagnostic findings.
* maintain and structure diagnostic data and reports using software platforms (e.g., zendesk guide, paligo), owning the content and structure of diagnostic repositories.
* support predictive maintenance initiatives and projects, partnering with engineering and operations leadership.
* manage and execute diagnostic projects that impact multiple departments within the company.
* coordinate with subject matter experts in mechanical, electrical, and engineering fields.
* prepare and present diagnostic reports and technical findings, incorporating both written and graphical content, for internal review.
* work under moderate to minimal supervision once goals and objectives are established with the immediate supervisor.
* perform additional duties and tasks as assigned.
* flag inconsistencies or errors in diagnostic data or technical documentation.
