Operate a highly effective and efficient distribution centre with a well-trained, motivated workforce to meet or exceed customers' expectations, satisfy business requirements, and meet financial targets, whilst ensuring cost control within the agreed budget.
Key responsibilities
lead and manage the warehouse team covering inbound, picking and packing, vas application, outbound, returns, and maintenance activities.
Work closely with supply chain operations director and other key function managers such as customer service, inbound management, and order fulfillment, understanding forecasted volumes, priorities, and organizing & motivating all dc staff to achieve sales targets and on-time delivery of all customer orders.
Plan, develop, and implement new methods and procedures designed to improve customer satisfaction, compliance, and operational costs, with a high degree of seniority.
Manage dc budget control and compliance, with an approximate budget of ~€15m, representing a significant portion of operating overheads.
Manage shift patterns and staffing levels, adjusting temporary staff as needed to meet service and productivity targets.
Maintain inventory integrity through effective cycle counting, procedures, and system adherence.
Lead dc projects such as new facilities, expansions, and system implementations, starting with business case creation and collaborating with regional and global teams.
Develop and maintain systems for evaluating team and employee productivity using up-to-date tools and reports.
Communicate effectively with commercial teams and key customers to optimize supply chain solutions.
Coordinate with external entities like unions, landlords, insurance, transportation, and security companies, and follow up on theft or loss claims.
Oversee routine maintenance of all material handling equipment and ensure performance reviews and modifications are addressed promptly.
Provide coaching and training to staff to achieve high performance, engagement, and low attrition.
Ensure health and safety standards are upheld, working closely with the site’s health and safety manager and training staff accordingly.
Key relationships
internal: managers from scm departments, it, sales, customer service, finance, hr, among others.
External: key customer management, unions, landlords, insurance, transportation, and security providers.
Knowledge skills and abilities
strong skills acquired through advanced training, study, and experience.
Broad & deep knowledge in distribution centers or 3pl operations.
Soft skills: leadership, stakeholder management, prioritization, results-driven, interpersonal skills.
Minimum qualifications
bachelor’s degree or higher.
Fluent english communication skills.
At least 10 years of warehouse management experience, including 3+ years managing automated/semi-automated large-scale distribution facilities.
Minimum 3 years managing a large workforce of both office and blue-collar staff.
Solid experience in selecting and managing 3pl providers.
Experience working in global companies.
