**A Director of Engineering in sheet metal manufacturing oversees engineering strategies, leads product development from concept to production, and drives innovation for sheet metal components and systems.**
Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and implement long-term engineering goals and strategies for sheet metal product development and manufacturing processes.
Product Development:
- Lead the end-to-end engineering of sheet metal products, including frames, panels, and structural assemblies, from concept to production.
Team Management:
- Recruit, train, coach, and mentor the engineering teams for the company’s two manufacturing plants located in Tecate, Baja California Mexico and the other in Fontana, California, USA.
- To achieve operational excellence and drive innovation through collaboration with all teams across both sides of the border and to bring a cohesive approach to engineering to all of the engineering staff
Design & Analysis:
- Oversee the design, CAD modeling, and release of sheet metal components, ensuring they meet crash, stiffness, fatigue, and NVH requirements, often with support from CAE teams.
Manufacturing & Process Improvement:
- Implement and monitor Design for Manufacturability (DFM/A) principles, guide material selection, and oversee the implementation of stamping, welding, and fabrication processes.
Quality & Compliance:
- Ensure all products meet quality and safety standards, lead quality assurance efforts, and maintain compliance with industry regulations and standards.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Work closely with manufacturing, production, design, and other departments to ensure seamless operations and product integration.
Problem-Solving:
- Troubleshoot and resolve production and technical issues promptly, providing technical guidance to teams and management.
Technology & Innovation:
- Stay updated on advancements in sheet metal engineering and implement innovative technologies into the company's systems and processes
Experiência y requisitos
**Education**
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or related field.
- 10+ years of experience in sheet metal production or manufacturing management
**Technical Expertise**:
Strong knowledge of sheet metal manufacturing processes, including punching, stamping, welding, and fabrication, cnc and laser programming, as well as relevant CAD software like SolidWorks.
Must possess strong computer and software skills in all Microsoft programs as well as be open to innovation through AI. Must be very fluent in Spanish and English in both verbal and written form.
