The fixture & tooling engineer is responsible for the design, development, release, and support of assembly, test, and rework fixtures required for production line transfer and sustaining manufacturing. The role ensures that tooling and fixtures enable robust assembly processes, effective detection and prevention methods, and safe, ergonomic production operations.
* design, develop, and release assembly, test, and rework fixtures to support production line transfers
* develop detection and prevention devices (poka-yoke, gauges, go/no-go tools)
* support assembly process definition by translating process requirements into effective fixture solutions
* design fixtures to improve repeatability, quality, ergonomics, and operator safety
* support rapid fixture iterations during line ramp-up and issue resolution
* coordinate with internal shops and external tooling suppliers for fabrication and modification
* support validation and acceptance of fixtures prior to production release
* maintain fixture documentation, drawings, and revision control
* support cost, lead-time, and standardization improvements for fixtures and tooling
* bachelor’s degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering (or equivalent experience)
* 5–7 years of experience in fixture, tooling, or manufacturing equipment design
* experience designing fixtures for electromechanical assembly or cable assemblies
* proficiency with 3d cad tools and technical drawings
