Plant supply chain manager job description
the plant supply chain manager is responsible for directing activities to ensure timely and efficient supply of materials for production through effective planning and control.
the role ensures on-time delivery of finished products to customers while optimizing operational costs and improving overall business performance.
* key responsibilities:
1. ensure compliance with customer requirements, corrective actions, and quality standards.
2. establish safety as a priority in all assigned functions.
3. supervise and train personnel to guarantee compliance with safety, quality, and operational standards.
4. coordinate internal (production planning) and external (raw materials supply) activities to meet customer requirements.
5. approve components for production while monitoring inventory levels to align with financial objectives.
6. analyze material and production capacity studies for future customer demands.
7. manage urgent material supply situations as required.
8. lead and support quality and environmental management initiatives.
9. oversee supplier compliance and inventory optimization to minimize obsolescence during engineering changes.
10. participate in annual plant inventory processes and ensure proper recordkeeping of material flow.
11. drive continuous improvement and corrective actions based on internal and external audits.

requirements
to be successful as a plant supply chain manager, you will need:
* education: engineering degree or related field.
* languages: advanced english (mandatory).
* experience: preferably in materials planning, supply chain, or quality engineering.
* technical knowledge:
i. Inventory planning & control systems
ii. Warehouse management & logistics
iii. Core quality tools (gd&t, spc, control plan, fmea)
iv. Erp/mrp systems (as400, sap, or similar)
v. Customer manual interpretation
vi. Root cause analysis & continuous improvement
* skills & competencies:
i. Strong negotiation and problem-solving skills.
ii. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
