The network engineering manager is responsiblefor leading the network engineering team in the design, implementation,operation, and continuous improvement of enterprise network infrastructure.this role ensures high availability, performance, and security of networkservices aligned with itsm best practices.
the position combines technical leadership withpeople management, acting as a key stakeholder in strategic planning, servicedelivery, and operational excellence within a managed services environment.
keyresponsibilities:
* leadsand manages the network engineering team, including hiring, mentoring,performance management, and career development.
* overseesthe design and architecture of network infrastructure, ensuring scalability,security, and alignment with business requirements.
* definesand enforces network standards, policies, and best practices.
* managesnetwork-related incidents, problems, and changes following itsm frameworks(incident, problem, change management).
* actsas escalation point for complex network and unified communications issues.
* coordinateswith cross-functional teams (security, systems, cloud, service desk) to ensureservice continuity and performance.
* monitorsnetwork performance trends and proactively identifies risks and improvementopportunities.
* ensuresproper documentation of network architecture, configurations, and operationalprocedures.
* overseasesimplementation of lan, wan, wlan, sd-wan, and security solutions.
* managesvendor relationships and evaluates new technologies, tools, and solutions.
* ensurescompliance with slas, kpis, and customer expectations.
* leadscapacity planning, disaster recovery, and business continuity initiatives fornetwork services.
* supportspre-sales and solution design activities when required
* strong leadership and team management skills ina technical environment.
* advanced knowledge of enterprise networkingtechnologies (lan, wan, wlan, sd-wan).
* deep expertise in routing and switchingprotocols: bgp, ospf, eigrp, mpls, vlans, stp.
* strong experience with cisco technologies(catalyst, nexus, sd-wan, ise).
* experience with network security solutions(firewalls such as cisco asa/firepower, palo alto).
* understanding of cloud networking (aws, azure)and hybrid environments.
* knowledge of itsm frameworks (incident,problem, change management).
* familiarity with monitoring and troubleshootingtools (wireshark, solarwinds, netflow, snmp).
* strong analytical, problem-solving, anddecision-making skills.
* excellent communication skills with ability tointeract with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
* ability to manage multiple priorities in asap‑paced msp environment.
education and experience
* bachelor’s degree in information technology,computer science, or related field preferred.
* itsm certification (itil foundation or higher)required.
* 7+ years of experience in network engineering.
* 3+ years in a leadership or management role.
* experience in managed services (msp/itsmenvironment) strongly preferred.
