purpose
manage capital projects to the scope, schedule, cost and quality with a key focus on safety, health, the environment and legal compliance. Efficiently execute projects in accordance with pmo processes, standards, templates and guidelines. Follow front-end loading (fel) or feed and epc phases (screening, alternatives analysis) through front-end and detailed design, construction and commissioning. Apply world-class tools of construction and process safety, capital efficiency, cost and schedule management to meet business requirements.
main responsibilities
* deliver safe, efficient, timely and cost-effective project delivery of the business capital portfolio in a way that delivers advantaged assets.
* serve as the focal point and knowledgeable spokesperson on project delivery engagements, working closely with engineering, procurement, construction, and operations while maintaining the primary interface with the epc contractor.
* ensure that contract construction firms and managers employ world-class safety methods while meeting the cost and schedule commitments of the project.
* build a project team of internal and external resources that delivers safe, effective and capital-efficient design and procurement throughout the project.
* implement world-class cost, schedule and forecasting tools to ensure project delivery on-time and within budget.
* manage stakeholder and interface management for the overall project. Deliver regular communications to functional and business stakeholders with content tailored to audiences9 technical skill and interest in detail. Act as the primary interface for operations and corporate reporting.
* maintain accountability for safety, cost, schedule, scope, risk, quality and delivery of the project through the team; develop a safety and quality culture by leading by example.
* manage interfaces and effective communication with mining operations, projects, finance, procurement, legal, vendors and contractors in matamoros.
knowledge and experience needed
* degree in engineering, with more than 15 years of experience as a project manager in the chemical industry.
* leadership of multiple capital projects >$50m.
* project management professional (pmp) certification from pmi (the us project management institute).
* lean execution, value engineering, global procurement, high value epc lstk contract management.
* management of epcm contractor in matamoros.
* project performance kpis, tools, techniques and systems; capital project estimating.
