Job overview te connectivity’s r&d/product development engineering team conceives original interconnect ideas and solutions for the challenges encountered in the harsh environments found in aerospace and defense applications. A well-balanced role, exposed to a wide range of fields providing deep insight on design, manufacturing, and testing of mechanical and electronic components and systems, the team is responsible for new product development and qualification from market definition through production release; assist in the qualification of suppliers to ensure suppliers deliver quality parts, materials, and services for new or improved manufacturing processes; conduct feasibility and manufacturability studies, testing on new, modified and optimized designs; direct and support detailed design, testing, prototype fabrication and manufacturing ramp. The r&d/product development engineering teams provide all required product documentation including, but not limited to, solid model, 2d/3d production drawings, products specifications, and testing requirements. What your background should look like have a ba/bs degree or higher in mechanical engineering, from an accredited college or university 0-3 years mechanical engineering product development experience (or relevant work experience) basic competency in 3d cad applications, ptc creo preferred, ansys spaceclaim beneficial. Basic competency in 3d cae simulation applications, ansys preferred. Ability in geometric dimensions and tolerances, tolerance analysis. Basic understanding of manufacturing processes including stamping, molding, plating, and assembly. Strong interpersonal communication and cross functional teamwork skills. Ability to work in a global environment responsabilities act as team member for the mechanical design of products support multiple projects concurrently contributing to technology and product decisions support product development through stages of concept, design, validation, and industrialization. Support concept new products using engineering tools to create 3d cad models support engineering analysis including through mechanical simulations on key features and components. Support 2d print creation with geometric dimensioning and tolerances, support tolerance analysis support creation of engineering technical documentation such as specifications, application guidelines, test plans support the creation of engineering prototypes and customer samples, validating features as needed. Support validation and qualification testing on products to ensure design objectives are met. Support failure analysis as needed using tools such as ct scans, cross sections, and tear downs to determine the root cause for issues and implement solutions. Maintain engineering documentation and history files. Keep account to the project team on deliverables including honoring timeline commitments.
