We are scaling our team and strengthening the operational foundation that supports our people and growth. Velafi is scaling rapidly across LATAM with a remote & cross-cultural team. This role is key to ensure that people growth keeps pace with business growth — not just legally, but culturally and operationally.
This is an IC role, and you will need to lead and execute full spectrum HR end-to-end activities including recruitment, payroll admin, on-boarding/off-boarding, benefits administration, vendor management, performance and employee experience in a multi-cultural environment.
This role can be based in Argentina as well.
Key Responsibilities
Recruitment (>50%)
* Hands-on with high volume of recruitment activities, drive hiring process of sourcing, screening, scheduling interviews, candidate communication, job offer & contracting, as well on-boarding logistics and pre-employment check (as applicable).
* Partner with hiring managers to ensure a consistent and high-quality candidate experience.
Payroll, C&B
* Administer payroll end-to-end with external payroll provider and internal stakeholders, ensuring timely and accurate processing.
* Administer benefits enrollment, such as insurance, renewals, employee service and vendor coordination.
* Maintain up-to-date data related to headcount, role changes, compensation changes, and approvals.
* Manage relationships with various vendors (payroll, benefits, medical providers, background check, HR systems, office services).
HR Operations
* Own and continuously improve HR operational processes, including employee life-cycle administration, HR documentation, policy deployment, and records management.
* Ensure accuracy, confidentiality and compliance across HR files, workflows and reporting.
* Serve as the primary point of contact for day-to-day HR operations, resolving requests and issues promptly and professionally.
Performance & People Programs Support
* Provide operational support for performance cycles (calendars, documentation, communications, tracking, and logistics).
* Assist with employee engagement initiatives and basic HR analytics and reporting when required.
Office Admin & Employee Engagement
* Support smooth workplace operations (office access, supplies, equipment etc).
* Contribute to team building, positive employee experience aligned with company culture, across time zones and countries.
Qualifications
* Minimum 6-year of work experience in as a HR Generalist covering Recruitment, People Operations and Office Admin in a fast-paced & startup environment (Fintech experience strongly preferred).
* Must have prior experience managing payroll, payroll platform and benefits with 3rd party providers.
* Proficiency in business English, and native Spanish speaker; Portuguese is a plus.
* Strong operational discipline, attention to detail, and ability to manage confidential information appropriately.
* Proven ability to prioritize effectively, manage multiple stakeholders across countries and cultures, and deliver under tight deadlines.
* Familiar with HRIS/ATS/Payroll platforms and experience with CRM is preferred.
Key Competencies
* Must be comfortable to work outside normal office hours in order to collaborate with hiring managers & colleagues from very different timezones
* This is an IC role, thus candidate must be comfortable with hands-on work
