the mechanical supervisor for turnaround (tar) is responsible for leading and overseeing mechanical maintenance activities during the tar event. This role ensures all work is performed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with standards, quality, scope, and schedule. The supervisor supports various units and production areas, working closely with mechanical supervisors to ensure alignment, resource optimization, and consistent execution. Strict adherence to procedures, operational discipline, and safety protocols is essential to guarantee mechanical integrity and readiness of equipment for a safe plant startup post-turnaround.
what you will do
* compliance & she leadership: enforce adherence to policies, iso standards, and safety programs. Promote safety principles, ensure work permits and risk assessments, report incidents, and align with emergency plans.
* maintenance budget control: monitor and control tar-related mechanical costs, ensure resource efficiency, prevent rework, and promote cost awareness.
* asset integrity & reliability: supervise mechanical work execution, coordinate inspections, validate repairs, and ensure assets are safe and documented before recommissioning.
* work quality & operational discipline: ensure mechanical tasks follow standards, procedures, and discipline. Support documentation and equipment traceability via sap or similar systems.
what you will bring
education & knowledge: bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering
experience: 3–5 years supervising mechanical activities, preferably with turnaround experience in the chemical industry
knowledge:
* familiarity with maintenance planning systems (sap pm) and turnaround management
* ability to interpret and manage engineering drawings and technical specifications for static and rotating equipment
skills & competencies
* knowledge of maintenance strategies: preventive, predictive, corrective; rcm principles during tar
* mechanical execution skills: disassembly, inspection, repair, reassembly of exchangers, pumps, compressors, valves, piping
* effective communication and team management skills
* sap (pm module) experience: work orders, tracking, documentation, cost reporting
* organizational skills: scheduling, budgeting, resource management
* proactive, detail-oriented, safety-conscious, problem-solving abilities
* ability to enforce safety standards and promote a zero-incident culture
* ability to work under pressure and manage complex logistics
