job summary:
this position is responsible for generating and reviewing contracts for all physical and derivative deals. Daily functions include, but are not limited to, generating and transmitting contracts, processing broker and counterparty confirmations, updating a status report for all unconfirmed trades. The candidate must demonstrate the ability to work with a small team and maintain all responsibilities within the hartree process structure. The candidate must possess good communication skills, with the ability to operate autonomously while also having the understanding of when to escalate any issues. Candidates should have the ability to look beyond specific tasks and ask questions relevant to their job function and demonstrate the use of sound judgment and decision-making.
job responsibilities:
• collaborate within a small team of analysts primarily responsible for generating, preparing, and reviewing commodity contracts related to u.s. Power & gas, crude oil, petroleum products, vessel freight, rolled steel, bunkers, gasoline, and blendstocks
• reconcile trade details across internal systems with broker confirmations and counterparty contracts
• obtain necessary approvals and affirmations for all contracts in a timely manner
• coordinate with schedulers (as applicable), traders, legal, credit, and tax departments to verify and confirm contract terms
• evaluate proposed changes to contract terms, ensuring alignment with company standards
• analyze contract language to identify and mitigate potential risks to the company and its shareholders
• ensure all contract terms comply with the company’s corporate risk policy and operational standards
• liaise daily with regional offices and escalate any contract-related issues that conflict with our risk policy to management
• prepare and distribute daily contract status reports for management review
• support special projects and initiatives as assigned by management
job requirements:
• b.a. degree or equivalent, preferably in a business, finance, or energy related field
• minimum one year relevant experience preferred
• proficiency in microsoft word and excel required; familiarity with sharepoint and power bi is a plus
• strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
• previous experience with commodities or contract management is a plus
• experience in tempest, allegro, cxl, bunkertech, right angle, pioneer and/or epsilon a plus
