about the role
the assistant director of finance aims to be recognized as a trusted advisor within the hotel/hotels. This role supports the finance lead in attracting and retaining top-tier finance professionals, developing the finance team, and enabling them to thrive. The role involves effective communication, maintaining a robust control and compliance environment, and supporting the emea finance management company's value proposition, which appeals to both existing and new owners. It partners with hotel teams to maximize profits for shareholders and owners, and executes finance innovations and projects to deliver an industry-leading, efficient finance organization.
key responsibilities
* support all activities of the director of finance, including understanding and driving financial performance, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting, and overseeing month-end closing activities.
* coordinate and review financial statements in accordance with gaap, hilton policies, and the uniform system of accounts.
* ensure smooth operation of all hotel finance activities in compliance with policies, regulations, and contractual obligations.
* partner with hotel finance teams and management, developing strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders including commercial, it, procurement, operations, shared service centers, owners, asset managers, and regional finance teams.
* in the absence of the director of finance, assume departmental responsibilities.
* support the development of a best-in-class hotel finance team through participation in relevant development programs.
qualifications
* ability to analyze large volumes of complex financial data and produce reports, forecasts, and projections.
* strong problem-solving skills and proactive issue prevention.
* leadership skills to develop problem-solving capabilities within the team.
* initiative in prioritizing and implementing responsibilities.
* staff management and development experience.
* attention to detail and organizational skills.
* ability to develop and deliver presentations to all management levels, including owners.
* excellent communication and negotiation skills.
* proficiency in ms excel, word, outlook, and ability to learn new programs quickly.
preferred qualifications
* university degree in accounting or finance.
