we are seeking a cost engineer for interior - seat complete assembly to join our mexican team.
the scope of this role involves supporting the global cost engineering teams. The cost engineer will develop technical variable and tooling costs for assigned components and systems using activity-based costing methodologies, based on bom (bill of materials), drawings, and samples. The engineer will provide subject matter expertise to support engineering and purchasing teams throughout all development phases, analyze supplier quotes, and negotiate appropriate costs. Interaction with design to cost initiatives, benchmarking, and cost analysis of direct materials and tooling will also be key responsibilities.
description of activities:
* support projects with cost analysis from early development to serial production.
* develop cost estimates supporting technical estimation and should-cost analysis based on technical features, specifications, and bom.
* propose cost savings and optimization strategies during vehicle milestones and cost target development.
* collaborate with engineering, vehicle teams, and purchasing to provide data-driven cost insights for target setting and quote comparisons.
* assist in negotiations during component rfq, change notes, and vehicle milestones.
* utilize stellantis methodologies and cost databases to perform cost analyses.
* support benchmarking activities and commodity strategies in collaboration with purchasing and engineering teams.
* document and present cost analysis results to vehicle program teams as required.
* input data into global pce documentation and kpi tracking systems.
* contribute to design to cost initiatives and maintain the portfolio cost opportunities database.
minimum requirements:
* 1–3 years of experience in cost engineering and finance, preferably in the automotive sector.
* experience in costing or cost model development.
* knowledge of complete seat assembly processes, line costs, and operational costs.
* understanding of automotive production methods and vehicle development processes.
* experience in design, release, or processing roles.
* proficiency in excel and powerpoint.
* proficiency in nx and teamcenter.
* knowledge of seat component costs is a plus.
* advanced proficiency in english.
