business development manager – mediterranean lane / mexico
savino del bene is looking for a business development manager for the sales team in its subsidiary located in mexico with experience and knowledge of the mediterranean market to join our team. The ideal candidate should have a strategic mindset, strong commercial skills, and a proactive attitude for business development and client acquisition. The primary goal of the position is to sell, develop & retain business on the assigned trade lane for all products and hold overall responsibility to drive customer development through sales at origin & destination.
responsibilities
* to develop commercial strategies to manage and nurture customer relationships and agreements with clients in the mediterranean market, becoming a trusted advisor.
* to maintain a robust understanding of evolving market conditions to aid internal stakeholders in opportunity identification, problem-solving, and product awareness.
* to stay up to date with market trends, rates, and regulations and conduct market research on various business opportunities and assess trends in the industry to maintain a competitive position and identify new growth opportunities.
* to schedule and conduct business meetings with potential clients and negotiate commercial agreements with a strategic and results-oriented approach.
* to identify and approach new clients through various channels (trade fairs, events, exhibitions, etc.).
* to identify opportunities for growth and market expansion.
* to travel periodically for meetings and business events.
* to work with the procurement team for all modes of transport for pricing and costing strategies.
* to ensure the implementation of sales strategies aimed at acquiring new large international clients.
* to ensure accurate management of existing clients, aiming for broader coverage of their needs.
* to collaborate with the network to maximize the effectiveness of commercial actions, provide strategic support, and actively participate in presentations to key clients.
* to oversee the achievement of budget goals, constantly monitor performance, and make any necessary corrections.
* to negotiate commercial agreements and supply conditions with key partners and service providers for product shipments.
* to respond to all overseas rate requests for new opportunities and create proposals, ensuring correct pricing solutions are available and associated with established guidelines.
* to maintain close collaboration with operational teams to ensure the effective execution of the service offered.
qualifications and skills
* experience (min. 5 years) in sales development, account management and knowledge of the mediterranean market.
* fluent in spanish and english (spoken and written). Any knowledge of french will be considered a plus, but it is not essential.
* network of contacts and prospects within mexico focused on the mediterranean market (both in import and export).
* proactive profile with strong negotiation and sales closing skills.
* ability to generate new business opportunities.
* availability to travel.
* own vehicle.
