Job summary:
the warehouse shipping supervisor is responsible for overseeing all outbound shipping operations. This includes supervising the packing and dispatch of goods, ensuring accurate and on-time shipments, maintaining shipping documentation, and managing the shipping team. The role plays a key part in maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction through timely and damage-free deliveries.
key responsibilities:
- supervise daily shipping operations, including picking, packing, labeling, and loading of outbound shipments.
- ensure shipments are processed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with customer and carrier requirements.
- coordinate with carriers, freight companies, and logistics partners to schedule pickups and resolve any issues.
- manage and train shipping staff, delegate tasks, and monitor team performance.
- review and maintain shipping records, bills of lading, and other documentation.
- enforce shipping policies and ensure compliance with safety regulations and company standards.
- investigate and resolve shipping delays, damages, or discrepancies.
- maintain shipping supplies inventory and ensure availability of necessary materials (e.g., boxes, labels, pallets).
- monitor shipping equipment (e.g., forklifts, scales) and schedule maintenance as required.
- collaborate with other departments such as customer service, inventory, and receiving to ensure seamless operations.
qualifications:
- bachelor degree completed in logistics
- 3+ years of experience in warehouse operations, with at least 1 year in a shipping supervisory role.
- strong understanding of shipping processes, carriers (ups, fedex, ltl, etc.), and compliance requirements.
- proficiency with warehouse management systems (wms) and shipping software.
- excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- ability to work under pressure and meet tight shipping deadlines.
- forklift certification and ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
