the role of radiation protection supervisor is critical in ensuring the safe handling, storage, transportation, and security of radioactive and dangerous material. This position requires a strong understanding of radiation safety regulations and protocols to maintain compliance with industry standards.
duties and responsibilities
* maintain oversight and conformance with all company radiation protection procedures and applicable radiation regulations.
* identify hazards associated with radioactive and explosives source and materials, conduct risk assessments, and implement effective control measures.
* ensure compliance with mexican radiation safety legislation and licensing requirements, including those established by the comisión nacional de seguridad y salvaguardias (cnsns), as well as applicable international standards.
* conduct regular inspections, leak test, and surveillance of radiation sources and generators in line with company standards and legal requirements.
* maintain accurate records of all radioactive source, oversee the safe shipment, transfer, and receipt of radioactive sources, ensuring proper packaging, labeling and documentation.
* provide guidance on radiation training requirements for personnel.
* manage the proper implementation of dosimetry program.
* develop, deliver, and document radiation safety training sessions for all relevant personnel, ensuring knowledge retention and compliance with the company.
* maintain effective communication with operational teams to ensure all radiation and explosives protective measures are understood, implemented, and enforced.
requirements
* bachelor's degree in engineering.
* certification or demonstrated competency as radiation protection supervisor in oilfield operations.
* proven ability to deliver effective technical and safety training to operational personnel.
* in-depth knowledge of applicable radiation safety regulations, including the understanding of mexica legislation (cnsns) and international standards for handling and transporting radioactive material.
* minimum 3-5 years of experience in radiation protection, preferably within the oil and gas sector.
* excellent communications and presentation skills in english and spanish.
* ability to provide effective safety training.
* willingness to participate in ongoing radiation safety training and competency assessments.
