what you will do
in this role, you will be responsible for enabling our category managers and pbu buyers with effective execution of our category strategy, by streamlining rfq processes, driving automation, and performing analyses. You will learn the commodity and prepare for increased roles within the organization. Additionally, you will support market dynamic analysis and research market-relevant insights for stakeholders.
how you will do it
* collect and mine information across johnson controls systems to build and execute rfq and market assessments, including drawings, specs, mfn/mpn, standard cost, and volumes, using direction from the pbu buyer and category manager.
* configure and execute erfq/eauction events within the company’s preferred erfq tool, including initial supplier setup, monitoring the rfq, and consolidating proposals.
* analyze spend data at the part-number level to identify cost reduction, standardization, or simplification opportunities, addressing data gaps and integrity issues as needed.
* support market intelligence activities, measure economics, and prepare meaningful reports for different levels of stakeholders.
* support contract lifecycle management (clm) activities by leveraging ariba to upload and maintain contracts.
* support business continuity plans (bcp) by deploying actions such as financial assessments and sustainability surveys, ensuring contracts are executed, among others.
* build and maintain a master supplier contact list for all gp procurement.
* apply root-cause analysis to troubleshoot pricing discrepancies between bills and erp prices to reduce waste and improve the procure-to-pay process.
* perform other procurement duties as assigned.
qualifications
* 1 to 3 years of experience in procurement. Experience with direct materials categories (electronics, electromechanics, mechanical, metals) is a plus.
* bachelor’s degree in a related field. Engineering degrees preferred due to requirements to read and interpret drawings and deep knowledge of sub-commodities.
* strong ms software skills, with advanced excel (e.g., arrays, index/match) preferred.
* good understanding of the rfq process and the steps required to make an rfq effective and successful.
* relevant experience/knowledge in data analytics.
* ability to drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities, streamlining processes, and utilizing lean/quality tools to reduce waste and maximize throughput.
