Plant Manager – Data Cable
Reports to: Regional Operations Director / VP Americas

Position Overview:
The Plant Manager- Data Cable for COFICAB Monterrey is responsible for leading all plant operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality production with a strong focus on automotive data and signal cable manufacturing. This includes oversight of processes related to high-speed data cables, shielded twisted pair (STP), and coaxial cable technologies that support vehicle connectivity, ADAS, and electric vehicle systems.
The role is critical in positioning the Monterrey site as a key contributor to COFICAB’S innovation and growth strategy in the Americas.
Key Responsibilities:
Operational Leadership
* Manage the end-to-end production process with a special focus on data communication cable lines, shielding techniques, and extrusion precision.
* Ensure KPIs (OEE, FTQ, delivery performance, scrap, safety, etc.) are consistently achieved, especially in high-speed cable production lines.
* Collaborate with R&D and Engineering teams to support product validation and industrialization of new data cable types.
People & Culture
* Lead and develop multidisciplinary teams with experience in data cable manufacturing, high-precision processes, and quality-critical operations.
* Build a safety-first, performance-driven culture focused on accountability and excellence.
Financial & Cost Control
* Oversee plant budget with strong attention to cost-per-kilometer and efficiency metrics specific to data cable production.
* Drive lean initiatives and automation to reduce waste and improve speed and quality.
Customer & Quality
* Ensure all data and signal cables meet automotive OEM specifications and are produced according to IATF 16949, ISO 9001, and ISO/IEC 11801 (where applicable).
* Lead problem-solving, root cause analysis, and customer response on issues related to data transmission quality or cable structure deviations.
Technology & Innovation
* Champion the implementation of automated testing systems, digital traceability, and inline quality control systems in data cable lines.
* Promote a culture of innovation, especially in areas related to electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), miniaturization, and material optimization.
Required Profile
Education:
* Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Electrical, Industrial, or Materials Engineering preferred).
* Master’s Degree or Lean/Six Sigma Certification is a plus.
Experience:
* 10+ years in manufacturing leadership roles, with at least 3–5 years specifically in data or signal cable production (e.g., Ethernet, coaxial, STP, or fiber-optic cables).
* Strong exposure to automotive quality systems and product validation cycles.
* Experience with extrusion lines, shielding processes (aluminum, braiding), twisting/bundling technologies, and high-speed data standards (CAN, LIN, FlexRay, Ethernet).
* Prior management of a unionized workforce and multicultural teams is a plus.
Skills:
* Deep understanding of data cable structure, impedance control, and testing protocols.
* Solid leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and continuous improvement mindset.
* ERP systems (SAP), MES platforms, and digital tools for quality and performance monitoring.
* Fluent in Spanish and English.
