your role as an energy & data analyst
as an energy & data analyst at bravos energía, you will play a key role in forecasting electricity prices, designing trading models, and optimizing energy market strategies. You will work with large-scale datasets, complex optimization mathematical models, and cutting-edge analytics tools to drive data-backed decisions that directly impact our business and the energy sector.
key responsibilities:
* mathematical & statistical modeling:
* develop mathematical optimization models used to forecast electricity prices, power demand, and market trends.
* optimize energy trading strategies using machine learning, optimization algorithms, and statistical techniques.
* data engineering & pipeline development:
* build and manage data pipelines that clean, standardize, and integrate diverse datasets (fuel prices, renewable generation, grid data, and demand forecasts).
* ensure data integrity, accuracy, and real-time availability for decision-making.
* market analysis & strategy development:
* analyze market conditions, historical trends, and external factors to enhance forecasting models.
* work closely with traders and market analysts to refine and improve decision-making strategies.
* algorithm development & automation:
* design automated systems and algorithms to process and analyze large datasets.
* develop interactive tools and dashboards to visualize insights and enhance team collaboration.
* performance monitoring & model improvement:
* compare model predictions against actual market outcomes, identify discrepancies, and refine algorithms.
* continuously enhance forecasting accuracy and trading strategies based on data-driven insights.
what we are looking for
required skills & experience:
️ educational background:
* bachelor’s or master’s degree in physics, applied mathematics, engineering, economics, computer science, or related fields.
* phd or specialized coursework in optimization, data science, or energy markets is a plus.
️ technical expertise:
* strong programming skills in python and sql. Experience with gams, pyomo, gurobi, or similar optimization tools is highly desirable.
* experience in scientific computing, large-scale data processing, and algorithm development.
* knowledge of machine learning techniques, statistical modeling, and predictive analytics is a plus.
️ energy market knowledge (preferred but not required):
* familiarity with power markets, economic dispatch, and renewable energy integration.
* experience working with wholesale electricity markets in the us or mexico is a significant advantage.
️ problem-solving & analytical mindset:
* ability to break down complex energy market challenges into data-driven solutions.
* high level of independence in developing, testing, and refining models and algorithms.
️ communication & team collaboration:
* ability to interpret data-driven insights and present them to cross-functional teams.
