Overview
bunkhouse valle de guadalupe is a luxury lifestyle resort located in the heart of mexico wine country. The resort spans over 1 km, featuring well-appointed guestrooms and suites, a restaurant with roof terrace, a pool, and more than 50,000 sqm of vineyards with a proprietary wine brand.
responsibilities
* responsible for the financial functions in the hotel, working closely with the general manager, ownership, and corporate office to ensure accurate reports are submitted on time.
* manage general ledger reconciliation, monthly and quarterly sales tax filings, timely monthly financials, balance sheet analysis, year‑end closings, and budgets.
* create and instill policy, procedure, and internal financial controls and compliance.
* lead the finance department and collaborate with the property management team to identify and capitalize on opportunities to maximize revenues, reduce expenses, and achieve business goals.
* ensure internal controls are compliant with all local and international financial regulations, safeguarding company assets and investments.
qualifications
* experience working as a controller in mexico, with knowledge of operating an internationally branded hotel related to hotel operations, finances, legal compliance, and gdpr applicability to guest and personnel matters.
* previous opening hotel experience in a senior finance manager role preferred.
* minimum of 10 years progressive combined experience in the hotel or hospitality organization, including at least 3 years in a leadership role (controller, director of finance, or applicable role).
* experience in food & beverage finance; prior finance leadership experience in hotels with multiple food & beverage outlets required.
* proficiency in ifrs, gaap, and usali accounting standards.
* experience managing hotel pre‑opening budgets and renovation budgets.
* demonstrated experience in creating and implementing accounting procedures.
* must speak english and spanish; additional language proficiency is a plus.
* bachelor’s degree in a related field.
* experience working in the valle de guadalupe region or familiarity with the region is a plus.
* prior “lifestyle” hotel experience preferred.
* business acumen and forward‑thinking approach to analyzing business levels, proposing cost‑cutting initiatives and scheduling efficiencies, short‑ and long‑term goal planning, budgeting, forecasting, profit/loss analysis, and capital projects.
* efficient time management skills and ability to prioritize workload.
* excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with ownership, corporate, hotel management, employees, clients, vendors, and the community.
* ability to communicate effectively and calmly handle challenges in the workplace, proposing corrective solutions when identifying challenges.
* must possess effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present financials and other presentations confidently in both oral and written form.
* ability to work flexible schedules and be present as required by business demand levels.
* proficient in computer systems including microsoft suite and hospitality systems such as hotel accounting software, payroll systems, purchasing/inventory platforms, pms, and pos.
* legal authorization to work in mexico.
* knowledgeable with all mexico applicable regulations and legislation regarding employment legislation and financial reporting.
