*summary*:
reporting to the vice president of operations/ceo, this position is responsible for all plant management activities including planning, management, and administration of operations. This includes a highly focused effort on safety environment, quality, delivery, and cost.
*essential duties and responsibilities*:
include the following:
- provide overall profit and loss leadership for the facility in accordance with budget requirements.
- responsible for the overall safety performance and environmental compliance for the site.
- provide leadership and direction to all areas of production and related services to achieve timely production of quality products in the proper quantities at the most economical cost.
- maintain close monitoring of operations to assure coordination and integration of workflow, timely production, budgetary conformance, and optimum utilization of equipment, materials, facilities, and personnel.
- identify and activate appropriate action plans to resolve crisis and problems.
- lead efforts to define and install manufacturing procedures and operations to accomplish objectives in accordance with safety and environmental procedures, quality standards, production schedules, available client, skills, manufacturing capacities and in accordance with the company's production system.
- work closely with customer representatives as needed to identify and resolve production issues.
- to the fullest extent possible, utilizing documented control systems, responsibility includes initiating action, recommending, or providing solutions, to prevent the occurrence of product non-conformity.
- insure that facility is in conformance with all applicable federal, state, and local legal requirements as well as with corporate systems, policies, and operating requirements.
- reviews production costs and product quality and modifies production and inventory control programs to maintain and enhance profitable operation of division.
- directs preparation of accounting records. Recommends budgets to management.
- manages efforts to meet or exceed yearly plant goals and objectives in safety, environment, quality, delivery, and production.
- directs the cost reduction/continuous improvement efforts of the facility.
- identifies need and provides internal and/or external leadership training.

*education and experience*:
- master's degree (m.a.) or equivalent; or four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
