Job description
primary function of position:
the industrial engineer will lead efforts to improve the efficiency of physical and transactional processes throughout the organization. This position involves advocating for a continuous improvement culture, executing projects of moderate to large scope across manufacturing operations, and driving lean improvements across various processes. The engineer will collaborate with interface partners such as quality, logistics, and system manufacturing to implement lean value streams, ensure smooth material flow within structured layouts, and develop best practice fixtures, tools, and work instructions for operators.
roles & responsibilities:
1. lead continuous improvement projects, including new line or facility start-up and facility design.
2. conduct value stream mapping (vsm) of operations to identify improvement opportunities.
3. perform structured technical problem-solving investigations and utilize data-driven analysis to recommend solutions for improvements.
4. support optimization of manufacturing line layouts to facilitate lean process flows.
5. apply lean six sigma (lss) methods to analyze data and recommend improvements.
6. create dynamic models of production systems to identify enhancements.
7. support large layout changes, potentially leading moderate-sized layout projects with minimal oversight.
8. perform strategic analyses and communicate findings effectively to management, including capacity forecasts and justification for facilities, equipment, and manpower needs for new or sustained products.
9. evaluate operations to identify improvement opportunities, utilizing data analysis and metrics to build business cases and execute improvements. Monitor operational metrics such as labor hours, wip levels, and productivity, analyzing trends and collaborating with process owners.
10. review and analyze work cell layouts, process flows, and material flows. Recommend cost-effective solutions to improve utilization and efficiency of personnel, equipment, and space. Lead projects that enhance costs and quality.
11. perform duties and training related to time standards, line balancing, simulation modeling, cost estimation, manpower planning, and continuous improvement.
12. propose and draft reports or dashboards to support data analysis.
13. build and maintain reports or dashboards for analysis and understanding.
