responsibilities:
* under the direct supervision of unic's director and/or the national information officer (nio).
* reports to the nio of unic mexico.
* internship is unpaid.
* full‐time working hours: 35 hours per week for 6 months.
* draft media and other communication documents.
* assist unic mexico in the production and delivery of information communications products and services.
* support the strategic communication of the united nations in mexico, latin america and the caribbean.
* coordinate the communication activities of the un system agencies in mexico through the communication group.
* update unic mexico's website and social media accounts with drafted and edited content.
* assist in daily liaison with civil society, academia, ngos in mexico, cuba and the dominican republic.
* assist in preparing the organization of events and producing multimedia materials in spanish and other languages for all un global platforms.
* collaborate with the public and private sector in organizing activities on un issues of concern.
* cooperate with civil society on information issues, promote un education and youth participation.
* perform other duties as assigned.
qualifications/special skills:
* languages: english and spanish are the working languages of the un secretariat.
* fluency in oral and written spanish is required.
* fluency in english is desirable.

responsibilities:
* under the primary supervision of the national information officer, perform tasks depending on background.
* assist in the development of a graphic design plan with multimedia products supporting unic communications, campaigns, and events aligned with un branding guidelines.
* design multimedia materials (postcards, videos, gifs, animations, infographics, reports, maps, banners, web developments, etc.) for various digital platforms.
* assist in design of printed materials (brochures, banners, backs, reports and promotional items).
* production of dummies for printing and reproduction of graphic materials.
* photo editing.
* research, design and implement appropriate formats of public outreach for diverse target audiences.
* assist in creation of visual products for the un website and social media.
* other functions and tasks as assigned by the director of the information centre for mexico, cuba and dominican republic.

media relations manager – cimmyt
location: cimmyt hq, texcoco, mexico.
specific duties:
* build and manage cimmyt's relationships with international media outlets covering agro‐science, food systems, and humanitarian topics.
* leverage existing media contacts in global development, science, and agriculture sectors.
* act as the primary behind‐the‐scenes spokesperson for cimmyt, ensuring media messaging aligns with mission and strategic goals.
* develop and execute a comprehensive media relations strategy to promote cimmyt's research and initiatives globally.
* secure high‐level press coverage, interviews, and feature stories through proactive collaboration with international media outlets.
* develop, lead and manage the hq content and press team.
* mentor and develop the team to produce high‐quality content and manage press relations effectively.
* collaborate across departments to align editorial and press strategies with cimmyt research, programs, and overall communication goals.
* set editorial vision and strategy, focusing on producing scientifically accurate and engaging materials.
* oversee creation of press releases, articles, reports, and digital content aligned with cimmyt's mission.
* stay updated on editorial techniques, science communication trends, and copywriting innovations.
* ensure consistent editorial standards across all platforms.
* act as the spokesperson for cimmyt, developing media messages and coordinating press strategies for the director general and senior leadership.
* prepare media briefings, talking points, and press kits for the director general.
* coordinate press messaging for key events, reports, and research releases.
* support recruitment and integration of a press officer for day‐to‐day media relations.
* establish efficient workflows for the content and press team.
requirements:
* bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, public relations, international relations, or a related field.
* master's degree in communications or a related field preferred.
* 8–10 years of press management or communications experience, with significant experience in ingos or organizations such as fao, un agencies, or similar institutions.
* extensive experience with international media, particularly in agro‐science, food systems, and humanitarian issues.
* proven track record of building and managing media relationships with high‐profile global media organizations.
* experience leading small communications or editorial teams focusing on press relations and content development.
* high‐level english proficiency required; additional languages such as spanish or french an advantage.
* strong relationships with international journalists covering agro‐science, food security, and humanitarian topics.
* deep understanding of press management, media relations, and latest trends in science communication and editorial techniques.
* culturally sensitive and able to work professionally with global media outlets.
