Position summary
we are looking for a highly skilled and hands-on controller to lead the shared services finance and accounting function supporting multiple manufacturing plants across mexico for a leading tier 1/tier 2 automotive supplier. This role is responsible for ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting, internal controls, statutory compliance, and operational support across the region. The ideal candidate brings deep experience in mexican financial regulations, cost accounting in a manufacturing environment, and the ability to work cross-functionally with both plant and corporate teams.
key responsibilities
financial control & reporting
* lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual closing process for all mexico-based plants and legal entities.
* ensure timely, accurate reporting in compliance with mexican gaap, ifrs, and corporate standards.
* coordinate with internal and external auditors to support audit processes.
shared services oversight
* oversee centralized accounting functions, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, fixed assets, and intercompany transactions.
* standardize and optimize finance processes across all supported sites.
* ensure compliance with internal controls and corporate policies.
cost accounting & plant support
* oversee standard costing, variance analysis, and inventory valuation for all plants.
* provide financial insights and cost analysis to support plant operations, budgeting, and profitability improvement initiatives.
* partner with plant controllers and operations teams to monitor kpis and drive financial discipline.
tax, compliance & treasury support
* ensure compliance with sat (servicio de administración tributaria) regulations and manage electronic accounting (contabilidad electrónica).
* support monthly tax declarations, iva, and isr reconciliations in coordination with tax consultants or internal tax teams.
* assist with cash flow forecasting and working capital management across the plants.
leadership & strategic support
* lead, mentor, and develop the shared services accounting team.
* serve as the key finance liaison between mexico operations and north american corporate finance teams.
* contribute to strategic initiatives, erp enhancements, and cross-functional projects.
qualifications
education & experience
* bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field; cpa or master’s degree (e.g., finanzas, contaduría) preferred.
* minimum 8–10 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting, with at least 5 years in a manufacturing environment.
* strong knowledge of mexican tax law, financial regulations, and corporate reporting requirements.
* experience in a multiplant and/or shared services environment highly preferred.
* automotive or tier 1 manufacturing experience is a strong plus.
skills & competencies
* strong knowledge of mexican gaap, ifrs, and cost accounting principles.
* proficiency with erp systems (sap, oracle, or similar) and excel.
* excellent analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
* high attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
* fluent in spanish; english proficiency required for corporate coordination.
